PopCap Games Acquires SpinTop

PopCap Games — known for Bejeweled, Peggle, and many other casual titles — has just announced their acquisition of Vancouver-based SpinTop Games. This move will expand PopCap’s portfolio of casual games by almost 250 and open up networks to other developers. SpinTop executives, Duncan Magee and Craig Hamilton, will however continue to manage the company as a subsidiary of PopCap. Says PopCap CEO, David Roberts:

“We’re happy to be adding SpinTop’s strong roster of casual games, a Vancouver studio and a direct-to-consumer portal to our existing business. The acquisition provides new publishing opportunities for SpinTop’s games, and strengthens a distribution partnership we established with SpinTop last year.”
