Take5 has an in depth review of Agatha Christie: Death on the Nile. The well beloved mystery is now out as a casual PC game from Oberon that plays as an interactive adventure. Its a casual game that you have to download. You can begin the mystery and then end up paying after about an hour of game play to play the rest.
“Death on the Nile†follows detective Hercule Poirot, who is vacationing on a luxury cruise liner, the S.S. Karnak, and meets the wealthy and beautiful Linnet Doyle, and her new husband, Simon. But when Linnet is found murdered the next day, Poirot vows to reveal the killer by examining clues and interrogating the passengers, many of whom have a motive for the killing. Was it her jealous former fiance? A betrayed maid? A vengeful lawsuit defendant? As Poirot, it’s your job to find the murderer before the ship reaches port.
I’m not a huge fan of games where you don’t get a complete episode before having to pay for more content. The micro-transaction mindset seems to be taking off everywhere these days it seems but if there were a genre that might be able to leverage that business model I suppose it would be casual mystery games.. buy the next clue.. unlock the next murder scene.
