We’ve got an updated version of the Zapper coming out soon, so what’s next on Nintendo’s plate? If we’re going to remake classic peripherals, I say we take one of the most infamous from the NES era and bring it into the next generation. Ladies and gentlemen, I speak of course of the Power Glove.

Sure, the original one had it’s share of problems, but now we’ve got the technology to make it work the way it was meant to. I know at least one person out there has tried their own version, but it’s basically a Wii-mote taped to an old Power Glove, with the A and B buttons outfitted to the fingers. I say we take it to the next level and put a motion sensor with finger-mapping in each individual finger. It would literally be the Wii-mote times five; and if that managed to revolutionize the world of gaming, think of what this could do. Granted some incarnations may look a little weird at first, but Nintendo managed to get video game consoles into nursing homes, so I’m sure they could sell this too.

Imagine playing a fantasy game and casting a spell with the flick of your fingers. Or how about playing a Star Wars game, where you clench your fist to Force Choke your foe. I can already picture some of the mini-games that would make their way into the next Wario Ware. Even just the console’s interface would work like something out of Minority Report.

The time is ripe for this sort of peripheral, what with motion sensing secured as the hot new technology in gaming. Of course I wouldn’t be surprised if some industrious modder out there with enough time (and five Wii-motes to plunder for parts) managed to turn this into a reality. But if one were sold commercially, gamers would no doubt rejoice with their jubilant motto: “I Love the Power Glove. It’s so bad.”

It would probably work beautifully on the wii, but i don’t think nintendo will rerelease it because of its previous failure…

    Howabout the 3d goggles

It would be pretty cool wouldn’t it? I’m sure someone at Nintendo has tweaked that it might be a sweet idea. Time will tell eh?

You must be kidding me. You want another accessory for the wii? I already have to by a remote, numchuk, classic controller, wii wheel, and sapper. How much money are people willing to spend on dumb accessories? it is ridiculous. Nintendo should stop throwing pricey accessories at us and make some next gen games.

Hmm, depends on what it does. the orginal power glove was ok, but overall lame. I dont need a sweaty glove from all the action of the WII, u know that thing will smell after a few weeks of gaming in it, u know how much fun the WII is and we move with it. Keep the Sweat glove away. But i think it probaly would be popular like most Wii accessories. the Wii is becoming an Accesories HO.

why does this site smell so strongly of anti-nintendo….
That being said, the cost of the wii even with added accesories (wheel and board are being bundled with games) is still cheaper than a ps3!
