PlayStation Firmware Update Doesn’t Do Much

Yesterday, a new PlayStation 3 firmware update (v2.17) was rolled out to unsuspecting gamers who, as usual, had no idea what the update actually did. A post on PlayStation.Blog clarified the situation and explained that the update simply improved “the operating stability of some online PS3 titles.”
So, all of you people who made variants of the phrase “PS3 update 2.17” the hottest search on Google can calm down.
