Play Digital Tests Gears of War PC

Gears of War has been out for a year now for the Xbox 360 in North America. While gamers are still awaiting a release date for he Mac version, PC gamers have just got this very popular game. Play Digital’s video reviewer Katherine takes on the title to see if it was worth the wait.
So it’s been quite a while now since Gears of War hit the Xbox – almost a year, in fact. While PC gamers have been waiting to get their hands on Epic’s classic, the campaign has had five extra missions added and retail buyers will get a level editor to enable the creation of mods, too. But with the graphics hardware required to play the game at a decent speed costing more than an Xbox 360 does, is there much point in playing through this again?

I’m going to be rumbled for this, but…I didn’t enjoy GoW THAT much (please, don’t take this the wrong way, I did enjoy it, just, not 10/10 enjoy). My main concern for it is multi-player and I know it’s a squad-based game, but the only games now which are acceptable to have anything less than 32 players is mostly reserved for strategy games. With the technology around, there is absolutely no reason why it should be 8. Even Halo 3 can get a bit disappointing with its 16, but 8…Battlefield series from the get-go had 32. TF2, 32 upwards. CSS, 64 max. CoD4, 32.
Whilst the game might be fun as a solo-play (and I found it to be fun, but only really with someone else in the room to share in with the fragging) multi-player did not interest me one iota after a few rounds.
For those interested in getting the thing for PC, play single-player, then sell it onto a friend.
