Phase 2 of the Pirates of the Caribbean Online beta testing is now open with new additions and refinements added to the game. With improved game performance, the ability for MAC users to join in on the fun, simplified multiplayer ship battles, and a more polished environment, Pirates of the Caribbean Online will be launching later on in the Fall. If you did not previously sign up for the first phase of the beta testing but want in on the second phase, just meander on over to the official website and sign up - unfortunately you will be put on a waiting list, but you may get lucky and be added to the fray.

To add to the fun that is everything pirate, the folks over at Disney have spiced up the website will a fun and handy new tool that Shawn told you about last week called the Pirate Translator. You can change any phase into pirate-speak at the click of a mouse - granted some of the phrases are a bit wacky, but it is a heck of a lot of fun. After playing with the Pirate Translator for over 30-minutes, my new favorite phrase is “go plunder yourself” - what a fun way to waste precious time that should have been spent working on this post.

Pirates of the Caribbean Online is also hosting a “Live Like a Pirate” community contest. Create a video, or send in a photo showing how you live or talk like a pirate in everyday life and you could be one of ten winners who will receive a custom engraved 30-GB iPod. The contest started on September 12th and runs through October 18th (entries must be postmarked by 10-18-07), and they can be submitted via online or snail mail.

Gaming Today will continue to have more information and new updates on Pirates of the Caribbean Online leading up to launch, so check back with us often. For more information on PoCO, check out our previous posts and to get in on the contests and other pirate mayhem, visit the official website.

I am an avid POTC online player and am telling you yes, it is deffinitly something worth checking out! Its set up in a story board way where each player starts out in jail…thats where you meet Jack and make a character. He gets you out of jail and sends you on your way to get off the tutorial island that is being bombed. On the way the man steering your ship Bo Beck, gets turned into a skeleton by Jolly Rodger and you end up having to walk the plank and swim to Port Royal. Later on in the game you find yourself on Tortuga where you meet up with Jack again to square off for the "free trip to Port Royal" he gave you… where you end up doing Jack's dirty work of rounding up a crew good enough to go after the Black Pearl.

Its very cool! during your journey you run into Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Tia Dalma, Mr. Gibbs, Elizabeth Swan, and Barbossa.
