The latest news from 2008’s Consumer Electronics Show on the Pirates of the Burning Sea MMO is players will be getting raids and player skirmishes in just a few weeks after release. Flying Lab developers took time out at CES to fill in Ten Ton Hammer on some of the upcoming content for the first few updates after the game’s Jan. 22 launch. Player Skirmishes will be scheduled, invitation only PvP events.

“It’s going to be a system where you’re essentially scheduling a battle against an opposing force,” Lebow said. “You basically say, ‘On this day, we’re going to meet up and fight each other!’ As an example of one of the objectives, you’re going to be protecting this convoy that’s moving from point A to point B, and your opponents are going to try and destroy it.”

The initiating guild will be able to set all the variables including passwords and scale, and will also be able to set up a training scenario for two teams within the guild to practice.

The team also talked about the big end game raid they’ve been setting up for over six months now. Expect a real challenge there.

“It’s more involved and you will definitely need to be more organized,” Lebow said. “You will need a guild of people to really take these enemies down.”
