Pirates CSG Expansion – Pirates of the South China Seas

Sony Online Entertainment announced today that Pirates of the South China Seas is currently being developed at the Denver studio. This is the fourth expansion for the Pirates Constructible Strategy Game, and is scheduled for a June release.

Bringing an Asian flair to the online world of pirates and the search for loot, the expansion features a new faction, the Jade Rebellion which is taking aim at the Western fleets who have invaded the South China Seas in search of gold and glory. The Jade Rebellion will sport two new seafaring vessels – six-masted junks, and Korean turtle ships. The new faction adds new characters to the mix: Ms. Cheng, the head of the pirate confederation and widow to the infamous pirate Cheng Yi. Her closest ally Chang Pao and her have defeated every expedition that has set out to destroy the Jade Rebellion and they do not take threats likely.

Starting today, the Denver studio is giving away a special promotional ship to commemorate the release of the new expansion. For every ten Pirates CSG Online digital game packs purchased by players, they will in turn receive the Baochuan, a 10-masted Chinese treasure ship. The shear size of this, the largest of the junks, will allow players to fit more crew members on board, take advantage of more crew abilities (extra actions and moves), hold more cargo, and with four more cannons it makes an awesome weapon to use against opposing ships. This new expansion will also include new game changing events: discover that your loot is fake, duel with opponents, and summon fog banks. Players can also take advantage of this new expansion by playing it as a standalone game or incorporating ships from previous expansions.
