Petition to Remake Final Fantasy VII Sent to Square-Enix

We over at Gaming Today have been slowly watching the rising number of signatures on this online petition to produce a re-make of Final Fantasy VII. The author of the petition has informed us that the petition has crossed the 20,000 signature mark, so he notified Square-Enix. Here’s their response (brace yourselves):
Thank you for contacting SQUARE ENIX Customer Support,
We hope this letter answers your questions.
Our parent company, SQUARE ENIX of Japan, has no current plans to create a sequel or remake to that particular title at this time. This is not to say that it will never happen, it’s just that their development teams are currently focusing on numerous other projects.
We hope this information has been of assistance.

I know: dang. On the plus side, it’s starting to look like they’re getting the message. They probably just seriously do have way too many projects on their table — including about five Final Fantasy games, not to mention another Kingdom Hearts title — to even consider taking on another one right now. Maybe wait until Final Fantasy XIII is out the door and then start hassling them again.

It's not graphics that make up a game, it's the storyline, like the old Sonic and Zelda games.

This is stupid, the original FF7 wasn't that good. The story is your typical cliche RPG. It follows the same routine as in FF1-FF12. It is as generic as it can be. It only appeals to the omgwtfbbq kids.

For those who think that FFVII was your typical RPG, you are seriously in denial! FFVII had THE BEST Story line, so far anyways. The story is deep, with interesting and unforgetful characters. For those who still don't understand it completely, go to this site. The person who wrote this FAQ is brilliant.

@Hayato: Read the article again. Jonathan said the author of the petition contacted Square-Enix himself. The author then sent us a tip to notify us of what their response was. In no way did the "newsposter" Jonathan contact Square-Enix himself.
On a side note, I recommend you switch over to FireFox. It can catch a lot of your grammatical errors.

As for this, y'know, it doesn't surprise and/or bother me. FF7 was a good game, but for me, not worthy of a re-make. So what, they'd give it some higher resolutions here and there so it'd look amazing and maybe fix a few glitches or bugs that were in the original, but the fact remains, adding anything new to it would ruin it. In addition, I prefer my Cloud silent, not with some tacky American voice-over who thinks they're up themselves (I thought that of most of the characters of X with the exceptions of Auron and Kimahri; a shame one of them is dead and the other shares his thoughts once in every 10 cut-scenes).
Leave the game and appreciate it as is, which is one of the best RPG's and all-time game out there.

I'm very glad they decided not to remake FF7 because they will be able to make newer games. Who cares if you remake a great game? Graphics don't make a good game, graphics just make bad games fun, Plus FF7 isn't worth replay it's a way overhyped game sure it is one of the greatest games made, but can't we give it a rest? if there is any FF game that deserves replay, not remakes but actually just sitting down and beating the game multiple times, it is FFVI.
Well speaking of remakes there is one game that does deserve a remake, Ocarina of Time, Only instead of just remaking the game with good graphics redo dungeons and puzzles and expand content, keep all the music only orchestrate it. that would be amazing.

Final Fantasy 7 is overdue for a remake, or at least a new game with new clips or something. Kinda like number 6 on the psone. For number six to be redone it took like, 4 years. Its been over double that for number 7…so yeah…anyone who says its not time needs a wake up call.
But square is overworked…they are trying to get thier massive ds and wii library done…and what little else they are making for the ps3 and wii(we all know square is working for nintendo than sony these days)
If history repeats ports come before total remakes. I would expect ports to psp and nintendo wii before a remake..its only logicall.

FFVII was one of the most overrated rpgs ever made. It doesn't deserve a remake. There are tons of other games that deserve one much more than this one. Cloud and Seph are generic characters and the gameplay isnt that good. Story was run of the mill as well.

I have a friend in the gaming industry, I'm not at liberty to say who. He's told me that you can't expect a remake of "Final Fantasy VII" until at least 2010. There are several other big projects Square Enix need to get out of the way first. I hope he's right.

FFVII? Who cares -.- Let it sit in it's overrated gayness. Squeeenix games are lacking in my opinion nowadays. FFVII truely..wasn't ubertastic or anything. LOL, why would they remake any Final Fantasy below FFVII, they remake them on DS every year! Get over it. No one likes FF I-VI, Final Fantasy didn't sell till Final Fantasy VII. FFVII has what the other titles don't have: dark story, variety in side quests: bike racing, skateboarding, adult language/humor, funny situations (falling in toilet etc), dramatic story and characters that you care about. FF I-VI didn't have main characters, sorry to say it, no one stands out except the bosses.

I think they should remake it sometime in the future. Not anytime soon though. They should make one for a new generation, those who weren't around when FFVII came out. They defenitley should not start doing it now though. Right now i'm really looking foward to Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Kingdom Hearts 3 (was never actually a fan of Final Fantasy, mainly because they were RPGs, but i love Action RPGs, hence Kingdome Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XIII). That gives me an idea. What if they remake Final Fantasy VII into an Action RPG. I love action!!!!!!! But if not then i'll enjoy Kingdom Hearts 3 and Versus XIII.

Regardless of how much fanboys are going to say about FFVII, one thing remains… all these fanboys have never played any other game in the series. Saying FFVII is "Teh best game evar!!1!" is like saying that Grand Theft Auto is the best example of family friendly entertainment. It boils down to a generational thing. The new breed that only got started with VII are going to say that it is the best. A real fan that encompasses ALL the games in the series will tell you it breaks down like this: Final Fantasy Tactics had the best story, FFVI had the best villain, and FFIX lives in my heart as the best for the greatest hero, Vivi.
What Squeenix needs to do is focus on their ORIGINAL IP's. Remakes just show that they want to make a quick buck.
There, my two cents.
P.S. The Chrono series needs another game more than final fantasy.

So to my me gustarìa that were doing a great remake of this grandisimo I play, first because it was the first end final fantasy that jugue and I like me his her,your history, the history of every personage who is sad and happiness and me I fill very much this game.
Also for it of the matters that I like very much the great map, and well a remake me haria happily to see the graphs as the movie and to listen to his voices and to live through it mas royal really, and I hope that they do it because it he,she costs is worth very much a great Final Fantasy VII for my best of all the previous and later posterior histories that they like but as that of the FFVII none.

I'd love to see an FF7 remake, but I have my doubts of it being announced at the TGS. Square only has one more gem that people have failed to notice..Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross. The only thing that would appease me if they didn't announce an FF7 remake would be a new Chrono Trigger game. I could see a ton of people jumping on board if they came out with that, but I still think FF7 would easily destroy the Halo market. My biggest fear is S-E's threat to SCEA about their flip-flop marketing. All the haters in the room can whine and cry all they want, because when FF7 comes, you'll shut up and play it like everyone else. You might love it, you might hate it, but you'll play it.

My opinion is that a remake of a magnificent rpg game such as Final Fantasy 7 would be a very exellent idea indeed, Final Fantasy 7 maybe has been overrated a bit but that doesent prevent millions of fans that absolutly love this game to turn their backs on such a exciting, pulse pounding and mind blowing project, so i think i have a vision of the future if S-E make it: fans all over the world will crowd the nearest gameshop that has the game, just like people crowded the nearest bookshop for deathly hallows, millions of fans with happy eager smiles will go to any legnths to get the remake and plus the company will earn so much money that theyre families will never go hungry again. if they refuse: the millions of fans that were so eager to know whats happening will be upset and perhaps a little angry that such a remake was scrunched up and thrown in the trash or perhaps fireplace, also e-mails and messages may pop up quite alot about the re-make of final fantasy 7 not being released and lastly the money that was infront of you has turned into ash.
Just one more thing: make sure that the plot, story ect isnt changed if you remake it, it will probably end bad, graphical enhancements and improved music are ideal, new spells, abilities etc could be a good idea too but thats your desision to make.

Actually, Dirge of Cerberus WAS a sequel to FF7. So to anyone saying they wish a sequel were made, probably has no idea that DoC was infact, a sequel.
However. The likelyhood of an actual original-game remake being done, is possible, but I honestly can't see it happening untill atleast 2010. And that's just it simply being ANNOUNCED.
FF13 and it's 2 side-games will be released late 2008, to early 2009. I hope that says something about the likelyhood of a FF7 remake, in the near future. Hell, they might announce it in 2010. But don't get your hopes up.
They're jerking us around, because they know we want it. And due to that, they're denying the hell out of it. They've hinted that it's possible, but have yet to say "yeah, we plan on doing it. We're not doing it now, but we DO plan on doing it."
Rather they're trying to suprize us after smashing our sunshines, or they seriously do not plan to remake the game. Weigh out your options, and realize that you have a 50/50 chance of getting that remake.
Only time will tell.
However, I still think that the developers need to stop jerking us around. They're having entirely too much fun with it. They know we want this remake, so they're going to do everything in their power to open us up to "it's possible" without saying anything definite at all. Ever.

I love that they make Fantasy VII a remake of End, because for my, it was a great game the best history of any another end fantasy, Final Fantasy VII it was for my better thing because it was, happiness, sadnesses, serious moments … tape-worm quite his prominent figures the design since they are his histories, the matters that it was the better thing that they put!

Ok. First off, Halo sucks big time, anyone who likes Halo are just jealous of Final Fantasy's greatness. If they do remake FF7 I would buy just because i hvae the ps1 version and would like to see what everything would like on current gen systems. Chrono Trigger would also be an awsome remake. Chrono Cross however is not. Final Fantasy 7 stands (in my eyes) the best game of all time. Graphics dont make a good game, the storyline does. So if they remake FF7. They better not jack it up. FFVII was a good game, and I'd rather see it on the psp than the ps3, I didn't drop $600 to play games that came out 10 years ago. And to those that are saying Halo sucks and FFVII rules. Yeah, Halo does suck, but stop being COMPLETE FUCKING RETARDS! Halo is an FPS you know what that means you idiots? First Person Shooter. FFVII is an RPG, that's Role Playing Game. FF7 was a good game, but "The Sensible One" has a point about both of them being from different genres. You cant realy compare the two. Everyone has thier favorite First person shooter and RPG. The remake would be nice as long as they dont change the battle system or anything like that, and "weclock" has no life at all and needs to move out of his parents house and get a life and a girlfriend.

write an essay on how each little detail makes you feel.
then come back to us, and let us know about your findings.

1. 6 was a culmination of all of Squares efforts to make an RPG. They weren't trying anything out because they knew what would work.
2. Did you even play six? do you know what it's about? Six is not a love story.
3. Just because it was on the cover of playstation magazine, it does not make it a classic. Lots of games end up on the covers of Magazines, even the first cover. Are they considered classics? Final Fantasy 7 has too many plot holes, has purely horrible graphics (for it's time even) and many of the characters are unexplored or just retarded.
Play Final Fantasy 7 again, today, and see if you still feel as emotional about the story. See if you can even navigate it's clunky level design.
Final Fantasy 7 is not the best game ever, but it was entertaining for the short amount of time I spent playing it, until I moved on to play Perfect Dark.

I don't quite know how I feel about a re-make to be honest. After reading some of the comments I can see both sides of the story.
Intially the fan-girl in me does go 'squeeee, YAY, RE-MAKE!' because I think it would be excellent to see some of my favourite characters and locations re-made with more detailed graphics. However, if they even touched the story line, the diologue - I think I'd be really annoyed.
And then that makes it sound a bit pointless doesn't it, spending all that time on a game to not change anything but the quality of the graphics. But honestly I think that's all I'd want to see changed.
So yeah, I think I'm all for a re-make, but if they change anything but the graphics I think they'll have some answering to do to the more hardcore FF fans out there. And, if they don't choose to re-make it, well, I'm still happy to play the original version - after all, Cloud's blocky arms are worth a giggle.
I do absolutely love FF7, it was the first RPG I ever played and changed me into the fem-geek I am now, but I can quite happily admit it's not the best game out there. I will, however, be a dedicated and loyal fan to the final fantasy series of games forevermore and will - albiet quite stupidly - will probably continue to buy anything that they choose to release, whether it be a re-make or not.
Oh, and yes, Vivi is the best

This game is so great, I am sick to death of people saying otherwise
its the masterpiece of the entire series and always will be. Why the hell do people believe FFVI is the best game in the series?? I mean sh!t it is a great game it had great character development but storywise it was so dissapointing, and also the main villain of the game is a frikkin clown, A CLOWN?? I mean sure he evil and likes to destroy crap, other than that the guy has absolutly no motives at all! Sephiroth was a much better villain and had a great backstory and had a frikkin mad weapon! He slaughters everyone in Nibelheim, also burning the entire place, badly wounds Tifa and Zack, kills Aeris, summons METEOR to destroy all life so that he can absorb the spirit energy. How more badass can you get?? What about Kefka?? Oh lets just go poison a river bla bla bla I mean he is the gayest villain of all time next to Kuja but anyway…So the english translation was bad so what?? you can still make it out if you try. Oh yeah and just for the record I have played all final fantasy's and I did play FF6 BEFORE ff7. 6 was good but 7 is better.

FFVII was one of the best in the series. The only other FF game that can rival that would be VIII, or X/X-II. After seeing the PS3 demo, I was left in shock, my jaw agape, having had a little taste of what could come to be. This game really captured my heart back in 1997, and moved me deeply to the point of tears. It truly was a beautiful work of art. In my opinion, everything was perfect aside from the repetitiveness of the battle system (easily cured by making some minor tweaks). The characters were truly 3-dimensional and were what really drove the story. The music was incredible, and (as you can tell)obviously thought out for each scene. I almost cried during Aerith's mother's story regarding her husband who died in the war…how she never gave up, and was always at the station…poignant moment. When Aerith died, I had tears rolling down my cheeks. You just feel such a sense of heartbreaking loss, especially after her & Cloud's "date" at the Gold Saucer. The second time I cried was when the party finds Professor Ghast's recording. It makes you think even more about aerith, and the sense of loss deepens. The 3rd time was at the end, when you see how Aerith's sacrifice saved the world.
This is a monumental story, and it would be incredible to see it remade (with everything intact) for the current hardware.

The xbox 360 will be my one and only system of the current gen (that is unless FFVII is remade and I'll buy a PS3 in a heartbeat if it happens). I do love the FF series and i've played through every one of them other than the original tactics, 1-3, and CC, but VII is imo the greatest. I could easily go through XIII by borrowing a ps3 from a friend but like i said.. I'm not buying one if VII isn't remade. And ffs halo 3 is amazing anyone that bashes it more than likely hasn't played it online (or got horribly owned when they did :lol:)

I think a FF7 remake would be great. Man, I'd even go for a continuation of the story like with the movie, or even like they did for FFX-2. It is a great series, and even though I am a huge fan of it 7, I don't particularly like either one any more then the others because they all do have different storylines, though some with more similar to others. However, if they are to remake it, or continue it or whatever they decide to do, I would hope that they wait to a time when they can give ample consideration and focus on it. They are smart enough to realize that making a remake, or a continuation needs careful planning in order to make it well received by its players. I kind of worry with how many projects Square Enix has going right now that they may place less attention and focus on some of their projects compared with others.

Just for the sake of playing devil's advocate, I'd like to point out that the developer(s) of the Final Fantasy series, including director Hironobu Sakaguchi have left Square-Enix entirely forming a new company called Mistwalker. Not to say I wouldn't enjoy the remake of FFVII as much as the next person, but if nobody else has noticed the sudden decline since FFX then you need a smack. It's no coincidence that he left and the games suddenly turned to an utterly disgusting shape of their former selves, spawning universally hated titles such as FFX-2 which was incredibly bad. All in all, the idea of a remake seems amazing, but after destroying FFX with a sequel and the original creators not on board, I personally see it being mediocre at best. If they happened to hire Mistwalker to oversee the game that would be a different story entirely.

I was born in 1990. In 1997 my father bot me a psx and ff7 for good grades. I played that game all my life and told many people about it. It is with-out-a-dout the best dame game ever. And who ever says they should not make it for PSP, so i could play it all the time is just a FAG!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like FFVII, actually I like all the FF games (and most of the others SE produces). I, personally, would love to see it remade, but I get that they have a lot on their plate. I just hope that we can "bug" them enough after they make some of them, to remake the game. Cause' FFVII is a great game and, to me, it deserves to be remade, so more people can experince it.

Why must some of you knock other people's choice in "greatest" game. First off, it's not like their opinion is any greater or less than yours, so what do you care what they think. I personally loved FFVII, but only as much as I loved FFX. The very first RPG I played was FFX and I have since played most of the other big name RPG franchises out there. One could make the arguement that ALL the games have one single story line: Get together with some characters, level up, save the world. Many of the people who say this game is over rated probably are RPG lovers, or are simply super supportive of their own choice in game. The reason FFVII could be call the greatest is because even after all these years, the attention still paid to it is still tremendous. Greatness is measured by legacy, not opinion.

Final fantasy VII wasn't just "another" game like some kids said here, it had
a big story behind the game itself and a great influence on the west world. It was the first
RPG game (turn base) that succeeded like never before. All of you that don't understand
what power has FFVII please read this article:

However, I think there is a place for a remake to that classic and amazing game. As we all saw,
the demo of FFVII on PS3 was amazing. The remake will give new players (that didn't played
ffVII) a new layout (a way better graphics) for one of the best RPG-stories ever written, to one
of the most interesting story flow that I've ever seen in RPG games, to a great game play with
materia and all the interesting stuff.
So far FFVII was the deepest game ever created (from my point of view), there were a lot of
secrets paths, materias, secret stories, characters and also at the end (weapons, guide book).
There was a lot of stuff to do besides the main quest (other ff games had cards and some stupid things).
Last words, there is a reason to make a remake, to revive the most magnificent game ever
created. And for all those kids that don't understand it yet, hi hi hi, you should wait for the remake.

I think the chances on Square making FF 7 again is rather high to be honest…the game was a top seller for Square, and with Advent Children being a pretty good seller all around i'm certain it's gotten Square's attention.

For the record, "Squaresoft" (now square-enix) didn't create any of the Final Fantasies, they produced them. Hirobono Sakaguchi created them, along with 2 other partners, who have recently split from Square-Enix. Although I value the option of a remake, my question remains the same. Why pressure Square to remake a game they didn't design in the first place. Ignorance is bliss isn't it? Even if Square did remake it, I of course would buy it; however don't expect it to be the marvel your all seeking. When you played FFVII originally, you were a different person, in different circumstances and probably years younger. You think differently now, feel differently, and most of all, everyone is looking for something different in the remake. Regardless of what your looking for, the remake will never be the "same" game because in essence to remake it is to change it. Now if your a true fan, and your favorite game must be changed, who would you want designing and leading the changes, the original creators or the marketers and distributors?
P.S. I am in no way downplaying the amount of sales/respect/greatness of FFVII or its potential remake, I am simply looking at it from many perspectives.

If it turns out to be like the tech demo then i for one would buy it without a doubt and regardless of who made it.
Either way you slice it, Squaresoft made a huge profit off of Final Fantasy 7, 9.5 million copies were sold worldwide and even the strategy guide boasted over one million copies in print, so it stands to reason that it would be a boon for Square-Enix to at least take in into serious consideration.
With all due respect who else should loyal fans of Final Fantasy 7 'pressure' into a remake?
To answer some of your comments it would be thus:
It would have to be the original design team, or at least as many as they can get.
Graphics should be the only real change in the game, adding mini-quests/ mini-games could be allowed and still fit within the game (I.E. expanding Gold Saucer)
Yes we are different than we were back then, but there are plenty of games that have been brought out and remade to other systems and have been well received by people who remember them, Nintendo is reviving quite a few older games much to this veteran gamers delight.

Final Fantasy VII is hands down my favorite video game of all time. No other game had ever made me feel the way it did and no other has made me feel quite like it sense. I bought it before I even had a PS1 with the hopes of playing it on my friends' consoles whenever I had the chance. I got excited awhile back when rumors first started about a remake, and I told myself it would be the reason to buy a PS3 if it was console-exclusive. I will never sell my original copy of FF7, and will continue to replay it every few years, but I wouldn't mind a remake at all if it was the same gameplay, with nex-gen graphics and new/expanded mini games. You gotta admit that if Square Enix were to start such a project, with such an enormous fan base as it is, you know the size of it would have to be on par with the FFX project, if not bigger. If it comes to fruition, I'll mos def play it.

i played this game back in 2000 but never finished it, but recently i saw it on ebay for $50 so i bought it basically the same price for a new game for a great game the story got to me and i had to see how it ended and i finished it a day ago its pretty cool and i guess if we all want them to re make FF7 then we'll have to show then that there is a huge target market by buying the new ff7 crisis core when it comes out even if you dont have a psp but just for them to see how much money they could be making so buy crisis core to show them an possibly get them to re make FF7

Being a comparatively late fan of the series (the first I played was FFX) I have launched into this series hearing from everyone how amazing FFVII apparently was. And I am a poor college student funnily enough and not able to dish out 75 dollars for the game on E-Bay. So that is essentially why I would want this game remade.
I have played nearly every game that can be available since, however, and I must say that for its plot I prefer FFX over all the others. To me the plot was more gripping and made me care for the characters.
And to anyone saying Final Fantasy's cut scenes ruin the game: you are insane. While I am unable to speak for the entire fan base I know that I often find myself playing in order to get to the next cut scene and see the story progress. Forgive me for rather playing a game that utilizes literary techniques proven through years of authors rather than playing your RPG's that focus upon battle techniques and such.

come on guys this is not just a FAN demand by all players who actually played this game. i seen the movie and i was really into the characters, and in other camos, because i NEVER PLAYED THE GAME YET!
the reason that releasing the PS3 console game in this generation with a new polyographic technology and provide with the same classic story with original music scores and magnificent cinamatics, surely people like myself would fall in love and understand why this game was one of the greatest series in the FF chronicles.
there is many reasons why the remake can be benifical to the company. if the gameplay is beautiful, if the story is still heartwarming, and if it still leaves an impression that its a trump card for square enix, then why not make it for both fans and non-fans-that-will-become-one.
plus i cant find a good price for the PS of FFVII, too expensive

WOW this is a great story, i got this game for the 1st time in 2004 in a small pawn shop i was looking for a ps1 game since my ps2 stopped reading ps2 games they had other games for little kids with out a case so i picked up FF7 and it looked cool with the guy(cloud) with a big sword the back looked even better until i opened the booklet i saw the mini games and that didnt appeal to me, i was having doubts but the it was priced at $2
so i decided to buy it and at first it was boring (the 1st time i had played an RPG) the O=OK/enter was annoying so one day at school my friend asked me what games i had for ps2 so i told him but when i told him about FF7 he said he would buy it from me i was frustrated by it since i couldnt pass it (but i liked the story) at that time it seemed like a deal since i would make an $8 profit so i sold it to him 
a while later i saw it in k-mart it was priced at 29.99 brand new i was like hmm so i didnt buy it. when Advent children came out i bought the dvd and i tried to look for FF7 at k-marts but couldnt find it so i looked on-line and was amazed that it was $70+ 
so i felt/feel so stupid selling it for $10 
i still talk to him and he said he sold it 
but now i have 1 copy i bought on e bay for $46 a not so bad since thats the price of a new game these days i recently bought Crisis core on ebay for $42 and now i have the whole story 
but i bet they will remake it since in crisis core when it ends it says to be continued on FF7 so im glad to have enjoyed FF7 series and a remake would go along Great with Advent children and crisis core in terms of graphics because the old FF7 doesnt feed right with the other two having better graphics so buy crisis core when its released here in the U.S. of A so they can be driven by the potential money they could make if they re made it MONEY MAKES PEOPLE DO THINGS

Look. Ok i was reading through the comments and i noticed some of u thinks that it will ruin the classic, but i say neigh. If they made it exactly the same it would only bring the classic back, not too mention would introduce it to the new age and the kids today. It's not like ppl r going to the stores today to pick up the original one….in fact i dont even think u can get ps1 games today…..what im saying is that it wont destroy the game…it will only enhance it. All you people who are against the final fantasy vii remake suck. have you even seen the ps3 tech demo? It looks crazy. As long as they leave the storyline and gameplay style untouched what is there to worry about? Remake = Ruined Game? I think not. This is the best idea ever, and i read in a new game informer that they haven't completely given up on it yet… it's just unlikely. True Final Fantasy VII fans would be ecstatic about this… not putting it to shame. Don't complain its going to ruin it unless it comes out and actually does. And then there's still the original. SO… quit your whining and support it already. (Ha… I agree with Dragon. lol Graphical Updates only please.)

I'm on the fence with this one.
I played Final Fantasy VII from start to finish numerous times. There seemed to be always something you missed each time and the storyline was engrossing, it captured your imagination and dragged you into the game.
The game was full of daft glitches and felt incomplete so with a remake i'd like to see their mistakes put right, however i feel they would ruin the game and go all hollywood and over the top.
If the remake was to be as per the tech demo and the film advent children, i think they would sell more than the original, especially if you were able to revive Aeris at the end like in the original plans for the game.

time to put all these 7 haters right.ill admit 7 got me into the series but people keep saying its nothing comared to the others especially 4, 6 in us.after 7 i was hooked.i v got 1,2,4,5,6,7,8,9 on the playstation 10, 10-2, 12, and dirge of cerberus on ps2, the online 11, 3 i managed to download, the films spirits within and advent children.and im ready for crisis core on the psp and 13 on ps3.iv even got a fighting game with cloud and sephiroth in it called ergheiz!now to point. i can understand some veteran gamers being loyal to 4 as it was the game of their time, an a great one at that,but having played and completed every FF ever created (oh and the FF tactics, got them too!) it has to be 7 for me hands down with 4 2nd and 8 close third.opinions will be different im sure but thats the great thing about FF as theres something for every1.If 7 is remade, great if not im happy with the original as IT IS the greatest game EVER created.

FFVII was the greatest game of all time it has one of the greatest cult followings ever, the story and characters are great and unique even if the big picture might be cliche its the ppl and the world you fall in love with, and they SHOULD remake it with better graphics, that will just make it even greater. I cant say what i would do for this to happen i just hope it does and all the others like me keep supporting it

I must say after replaying my orignal ff7 copy after so long. After believing it was the best for so long ..I realise it is extremely over-rated.
in my opinion it would be a gamble 
id say it should be left alone

I would like to see a remake. I'm not obsessed with the game, but it is my favorite of all the Final Fantasy games that I have played. The game, in my opinion, was an innovator of it's time, and I would like to see what would be like if it was given new life, so to speak.

fucking remake the damn game i have a copy that is in mint condition worth at least 250$ and have beaten it at least 8 times with all everything mastered. dont change anystory lines or weapons. and espicially dont change the materia or materia usage (like all, mime, 4 cut, steal, sense, KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND-mime, elemental) all that dont change it cause when they do remake it(they had better) i just want the graphics to be better and not much more cut scences. fuck you guys who hat ff7 or any ff for that matter, and another thing cut the classic leave it the may it is bullshit.

they should remake. It is a good game. the story is endless but i could say that for me the story the plot and the characters are timeless and unforgettable. Plus it would be fun to see the new gamers to play a classic RPG game which takes weeks to finish and really deep thinking to understand.

OK people look at it this way , if they hadnt made final fantasy 7 and it came out for the PS3 now it would be the best game ever made because the story is the shit and the charters are second to none and the graphics of the PS3 would make it truly the best selling game ever .
I understand how some of you dont want to see the remake , i mean i would want them to change nothing about the game if they did just the graphics , keep the story , keep it all just the update on the graphics .
The demo of the game look so good i though finally they will make it again , after the movie , vincents game , crisis core you haft to update the dad that gave birth to them .
This is the best game i have ever played , and i put all the role playing games i play up against FFVII and they always fall short .
Look the remake would only need to change the graphics nothing more . everything about it is perfect the way it is .

the remake is only wanted by fans that claim they love final fantasy 7 so much that they probably dont even play it anymore. i think that them remaking this game is a really stupid idea. they really need to concentrate on new fresh ideas. the game is definatly overrated to the extreme. thats why advent children didnt make it to the theater. watching that movie was like staring at a single cloud in the sky that never moved. there was no thrill or suspense it was stupid it just looked really nice graphicly. someone on this forum mentioned putting it on psp. that is the only good idea that can possibly come out of this game being remade. P.S if they did remake it and give the title to Ps3 that would be a bad marketing decision for them. seeing how ps3 is probably the crapiest system right now. 360 is way better in every way. and before anyone says its not look up info on comparisons, and look up info on games that came out for both systems. they all played better on 360. and for those who say that the characters are unforgetable. yea of course they are because u here about final fantasy 7 everywhere and they wont stop making crap on it. thats why there unforgetable. there is so much more i would like to say about this remake being a waste of time. but it probably would turn into a 20 page essay. and plus final fantasy 13 looks bad ass.

just let me say one thing to this
i thought about buy a ps3 only for a ff7 remake. they havn't done it. i havn't bought it. i know about hundret people onli in this city plaing video games 10 dosent care about final fantasy 89 havent bought a ps3 after ff7 wasnt remade at least 40 of them said bevor "i'll buy one for shure" all of them wont buy another ff if 13 sucks as 12 did. enix havn't ani more chances running to save its community here. i hope for a good ff13 and a remake maybe at 2010. if 13 sucks there wond be a 14 for me. and at least i have every final fantasy game but ff9 …

Ok I agree it is a very hyped game…if not over hyped. Myself and alot of the people outside of Japan, this was the breakthrough game. That got people not just into Final Fantasy, but RPG's. It made Final Fantasy big to a western market.
I would love to see a remake personally, as it is an incredable game way ahead of its graphical limitations. If you don't want one…don't play it. But you know you'll end up shelling out an buying it anyway.
Label me a fanboy uberomfglolzors if you want, I dont care. 110% up for a remake.

please remake it, welove it, its the best and most memorable game since the marios! it would make a ton of money, but if remade the story could not be changed, not even one little bit! for the doubters about the remake, this would not ruin a classic, i know for a fact those who doubt t will still buy it anyway!!lol its true! even if u feel like its been ruined after the remake, we can always revert back to the perfect, ahead of it time, magical version on ps1. this of course, whatever the case may be will always be loved. but please give us the chance to experience the ahead of its time game, on the ahead of it time console! you wont regret it Square-Enix. thank you

Um… that letter that supposedly suggests you're making headway, is obviously an automated response. It's kinda a giveaway when it says right at the beggining: "We hope this letter answers your questions."
Also the title "Final Fantasy VII" is not even anywhere in the response. If you want the petition to stand out and catch attention, you're going to have to do a little more than email it and hope for the best. In fact electronic petitions are pretty useless, because you get people who have a staggering amount of free time on their hands which the use to "sign" these petitions over and over. I would suggest a convential, well thought out, composition on why the game should be remade with hand signed signatures.

i have no doubt in my mind that if ff7 was remade, all you shit talkers would go out and buy it. you know it and i know it. i, for one, am for the remake. i dont see how it would do any harm. even if it is only better graphics. i know know graphics isnt what makes a game, but it plays an important role. visual stimulation has a great effect on the mind. with ff7, we dont have to worry about horrible gameplay or terrible storyline. update the graphics and put in a couple new things. thats all we need. just make it!

A remake of FFVII with the same story line but better graphics would not only save ps3 it would be argueably one of the best games ever made. it would take time since SQUARE ENIX is backed up, but i would but a PS3 solely for this game and so would thousands of FFVII fans. the petition is now closing in on 40,000 if it keeps rising eventually they will remake the game.

We are just trying to keep a good game alive many of us that want the remake own the game for either playstation 1 or PC and want in brought into todays technology with graphics. This would also allow them to revamp some of the crappy game mechanics from the original and if they wanted the could add to the end of the game something was going on between the end of 7 and advent children. so what was it why not but in the end I am sure as long as they just revamp the original story of the game everyone that loved the original would buy it and a playstation helping 2 of the best companies out there I am sorry XBOX and WII can go to hell they have shit for RPGS in comparison I am an RPG buff so SONY ALL THE DAMN WAY

So long as they keep the characters silent and don't tweak the main story or the chocobo bits (loved every second of my 10+ plays) they remake and add away.
To those who dis this game…Just because you don't like it does not make it crap…just because I think you are over-opinionated psuedo intellectual wanna be does not mean you are.
Due to the fan base for such a game the profits that could be made is pretty good and well worth the time and effort…want a remake? don't demand, just tell them there is a lot of people who would pay £40+ to buy a remake of this (in my opinion) awesome RPG.

I'm not so much bothered about the souped up graphics, though it would be nice i admit, but i never got a chance to play it the first time around and it's hard to find a copy around that works and people are willing to sell… and i don't have a ps1 memory card either.. so a re release at least would make me happy and i'm sure a lot of people who didn't manage to get ff7 the first time around!

Hello!!First i gave a damn about ff7.I saw the ff7 movie and i was stunned by the super graphics!!!(thanks to Tetsuya Nomura of course).But still i was confused because the story was too complicated of course.At April 2008, i borrowed from a friend FF7 crisis core.Today 04/05/08 i finished it and when i saw Zack die,i cried about an hour(people believe me!it was very sad)
When i played it i understood a lot!!Now only FF7 remains for me to play and i wished to play Cloud with excellent graphics.That's the reason i want Tetsuya Nomura and his team to remake FF7.I don't care for what console it will be made!!I'll go and buy that console,what ever it takes!!!Zack 4 ever!!!

FFVII is by far the best rpg game ever made and i think that a remake would be a massive seller, especially for ps3. theres people that say they don't think it should happen but i put money down that they would buy it anyway.

don't have ps3 but difinitly get one if ff7 remake come out…there really no really goods games for the ps3 that interest me right now. pretty much there isn't! so have no interest in the ps3. it so expensive for no good games.
