PC Gears of War Map Editor Revealed

I was wondering why people who already have the Xbox 360 version of Gears of War would be interested in the PC version, aside from an added Brumak boss battle, and it looks like I have my answer. Included with the game will be a comprehensive map editor for players to create their own levels. This is certainly one of the more detailed map editors I’ve seen in awhile. You can throw in pretty much any texture or object found in the actual game, not to mention add scripted events and tweak the lighting and other details. Mostly though, I’m interested to see what the modding community makes using this.

Looks like I’m going to have some fun with this.
Also, the GUI for objects in the editor looks very very similar to what is used in the Company of Heroes map editor.
And with all the cool stuff you can do with the Timesplitters Style if-then scripting system this is going to make a LOT of cool single player (as well as mulitplayer) maps.

Dude, I just spent the 53 bucks to get the game. I didn’t even care about story mode I have it for 360.
There is no exe icon or any sort of advice for getting the editor open. The only info you get is to go to a website… When you get to the site you get an error404
lame.
Has anyone gotten theirs to work?
I am in the same situation as Larry. I can not figure out how to even get the game editor to open, hell I can’t even find the editor anywhere on my pc. I have spent about two hours reading the recommendations from the website they send you to and have made no progress. So far I would say stick with the 360 version.

AFAIK you have to check the box when you install the game to install the UnrealEd function.
If you didn’t do that you have to install the whole thing again.
If you have installed it I found a solution online although I have no idea if it works or not:
“Ok, this is a quick tutorial on how to access the Unreal Editor in Gears of War!!! Now, right-click your shortcut on your desktop, and click “Create shortcut.” Now, right-click the new icon, and go to properties. Now, look at the target. Should say :
“C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\Binaries\Startup.exe”
WITH THE QUOTES!
Now all you have to do is add “editor” at the end, and should appear like this, EXACTLY, EVEN WITH THE QUOTES!!!
“C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\Binaries\Startup.exe” editor
Now click OK, and rename the icon so you know what the icon does, so name is something like “GoW Editor” or something like that. Luck with mapping! Can’t wait to see your guys’ quality maps! ^_^”
i got the game wen it first came out and i don’t get the box to check to install the editor
Norbit’s solution worked like a charm I had seen some other ones but this is the only one to get me into the editor.
I think you shouldn’t have to reinstall it, it should allow you to access a change feature or something like that, but I don’t have any official information.
I just think it’d be really gay if it DIDN’T have that option, even Microshaft office as that option.

@demogorgon: Its just a level editor if you want a model editor go do what my game design company did an go buy MAYA or 3DS Max or for free download Blender.
I would buy this engine but it is over $500,000. I just use 3D Game Studio to make commercial titles and its only $200.
