Orlando Bloom Cast in the Lead Role for the Prince of Persia Movie

Remember a few weeks ago when it seemed like an actual prince might be cast in the Prince of Persia movie? Well, better just forget about ol’ David K. Zandi since it looks like he’s been beaten out by Legolas. That’s right, apparently Orlando Bloom has been cast in the lead role for the upcoming Prince of Persia film. I suppose this shouldn’t be a huge surprise, since this is a Jerry Bruckheimer film, and Bloom was also in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. The film is set to begin filming this July in Morocco. It’s supposed to be the first in a trilogy too, so at this point, Orlando Bloom has probably spent the majority of his career acting in trilogies. Before you start lambasting too much about this decision though, keep in mind that Zac Efron was apparently his strongest competition for the role; so it could’ve been much much worse. Now it just remains to be seen which Orlando Bloom we’ll be getting: the badass from Lord of the Rings or the big, doe-eyed wuss from all his other films.

He looks the part
He can pull off the look, but can he pull off the badassness
uhmm…orlando bloom would’ve beaten any other competition..i mean, LOOK AT HIM! no wonder he is so succesful.
i dont see how zac efron could have pulled the role off…he has “an american look” unlike orlando. im happy to see another film being made with orlando in it. all his movies are awesome!!
Is it that hard to find a, just spitballing here, Arab to play the part? Now Jaffar can be Michael Caine with a tan, and Britney Spears can play the princess.
How much do you want to bet that the only Middle Eastern people in this movie will be the inept guards that Orlando effemenently swashbuckles his way through?
Lucky for us this is a videogame movie (and Doucheheimer to boot) and will suck regardless.
Ironically he’s already played the other side of the fence in Kingdom of Heaven. Definitely not a doe-eyed role.
Great. As much as I like to look at him, and despite liking him very much in all but one movie he has been in, I will forever be reminded of the sniveling wimpy-ass Paris from Troy (which imo sucked).
I guess what the public wants means nothing to you Jerry, so why do a survey in the first place you egomaniac.
So who would YOU choose, Jonathan? You seem so perfect on your posts, maybe you should take the role. Now i remember why i’ve stop reading this site….
Handshakes…Persians are not Arab. There are historical ties between Europe and Persia; it’s not out of the question for a Persian to look European or a European to look Persian.
I’d like see an unknown get this part. I’m sick of Orlando Bloom and the rest of the A-list “it” boys in Hollywood. Yawn. Yeah, sure he’s talented and can probably pull it off….but com’on…..it’s just another film with one of the “it” boys rehashing what ever it is they do and making millions….give someone else a chance.

Have you guys seen David Zandi he’s and actual persian prince and he looks exactly like the character why did they had to pick Orlando bloom im so tired of him and Zac Efron??? that must have been a joke what is he gonna do “Prince of Persia – The musical”?
I dunno hollywood can be so dumb sometimes
Hi
I know It is not an arabic historical because
It is not muslims that who think he can stop the time by sands
it is past before iran is persia
EVER SINCE I FIRST SAW PRINCE OF PERSIA: SANDS OF TIME, BEING PLAYED BY MY MOTHER ON HER PLAYSTATION 2 I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT THAT IT WOULD MAKE AN INCREDIBLE MOVIE! I JUST LOVED WATCHING THE STORY AFTER EACH LEVEL WAS COMPLETED. I COULDN’T WAIT FOR HER TO BUY THE NEXT ONE SO I COULD SEE THE NEXT PART OF THE STORY.
I ALWAYS IMAGINED ADRIAN PAUL FROM THE HIGHLANDER SERIES TO PLAY THE PRINCE. HE’S HAD EXPERIENCE WITH THE SWORD & FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY WHICH MADE ME THINK THAT HE WOULD PICK IT UP QUITE QUICKLY. HE’S VERY HANDSOME TOO! TALL & DARK. LIKE THE PRINCE SHOULD BE.
I’M CERTAINLEY NOT KEEN ON THE FACT THE JAKE GYLLENHALL MIGHT GET THE ROLL! ZAC EFFRON IS NOT MAN ENOUGH TO PLAY THE PRINCE. I WOULDN’T MIND IF ORLANDO GOT THE ROLL. BUT, PERSONALLY I THINK HE’S TOO ENLISH. HE DOESN’T HAVE THAT EXOTIC LOOK ABOUT HIM. I WOULD MUCH RATHER PREFER THAT ADRIAN DID IT.
@GODDESS
WHY ARE YOU YELLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry. I wasn’t yelling. I just have a habit of writing in capitals. LOL! I didn’t know that that meant I was yelling. Sorry again. How’s this?
