Old School Sunday: Punch-Out!! Arcade Flyer

Before Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! on the NES, there was just Punch-Out in the arcades. Boxing games have come a really long way since the old school, but I’m not sure if they are fun as the old ones. Boxing games today are certainly way more realistic, but they simply don’t have the fun factor of old. Kotaku features various old school art-work from games of our youth nearly every week. Although we have to keep up with current games more than the old stuff, it’s definitely an important thing to never forget where gaming came from.

Unfortunately, Kotaku is taking a flyer-art hiatus until the new year, but I certainly understand how a writer can get burnt out when one topic becomes too repetitive. Either way, I always enjoy anything related to the old school of gaming.

I dumped many a quarter into that game in the local arcades. The fun factor was high, even if graphics aren’t at todays levels, I’m sure it would still make a great party game, just trying to beat your buddies latest scores.
