zeldahourglassartsm.jpgWay to go, Zelda. After having only moderately sales in Japan for recent games such as Minish Cap for Game Boy Advance, you and Link are seriously moving units. According to Japanese retailer blogs (in Japanese), Nintendo shipped 400,000 copies and moved 350,00 copies of the DS game on its first weekend in release. The DS has been intensely popular in Japan, selling 5 million units in only 13 months, making it the fastest-selling video game system ever in Japan. This is probably helping drive sales for Zelda with DS users eager to play what looks to be an exciting game. As of February 2007, the Zelda series had sold over 47 million copies since the original arrived in 1986. Looks like it will soon be 50 million or more.
