New York University Tisch School of the Arts Asia plans to offer a graduate degree in animation and digital Arts at its new campus in Singapore beginning in fall 2008. The two year program teaches the traditional forms of the art of animation and explores a variety of advanced techniques and digital technologies. Students will graduate with a Master of Fine Arts in Animation and Digital Arts.

“The new Animation and Digital Arts program in Singapore offers an opportunity for artists from around the world to be immersed in an academic and artistic environment unlike any other,” said Pari Shirazi, vice dean of the Tisch School of the Arts and president of Tisch Asia. “For years, our graduates have made significant contributions to the performing and media arts industry and I expect that each student at Tisch Asia in this new MFA program will continue the Tisch tradition of excellence in challenging the artistic landscape.”

Jean-Marc Gauthier, Animation and Digital Arts faculty member, explained that the program will approach the art of animation from many angles. “Students will focus on people gestures, postures, style and expressions and ways to animate a puppet, a digital character or even a robotic device. They will explore new forms of storytelling using real time and interactive technologies.”

The application deadline for the MFA program is January 8, 2008 and can be submitted online. For more detailed information visit: www.tischasia.nyu.edu.sg.
