Nvidia is premiering a graphics microchip that will be integrated into the main collection of components that make up a PC that it hopes will turn up the heat on Intel in the competition over the integrated graphics chip market. The industry expects Nvidia to announce on Tuesday that its new GeForce chips for desktop PCs equal the performance of an entry-level separate graphics processor unit, and the traditional integrated graphics chips such as those made by Intel.
Nvidia’s new GeForce 7150, 7100 and 7050 chips will support Intel processors such as Core 2, Pentium and Celeron, as well as new Intel processors code-named Penryn due to launch on November 12.
