No your wrong world wide numbers for Halo 3 are not even close to 8 million.
VGchartz track 6 million world wide. Halo 3 only sold a couple million in Europe, its ridiculous to think Europe sold 4 million Halo 3 when there are only about 5 million 360s sold in Europe.

Its Microsoft’s inflated numbers Shipped. Every one, Sony, Nintendo all release numbers sold to actual consumers, Microsoft is the only one still releasing numbers Shipped, its shady business.

Does the NPD take Digital Distribution into account? That’s where most of the Orange Box sales would come from anyways.

Orange Box is awesome, but I dislike that it as a whole is being put into contests of great games. The title says it; it’s a collection, not a single game. It’s like if the Sonic Mega Collection was entered; there’s so many great games, it couldn’t not win.

Other than that, what astonishes me is just how many units Halo sold, considering how much of the year it was out for.

@Phil I believe Microsoft’s numbers are worldwide, while NPD only tracks the US.

And is it so wrong that I love The Orange Box? Your disdain for it doesn’t mean I should change my mind about it.

Yet Microsoft claims that Halo 3 sold 8 million copies. This huge disparity demonstrates once again that game companies’ own sales claims can’t be trusted because they inflate their numbers for marketing purposes.

There are also no PSP games, which I think is more of a testament to its multimedia feature than a lack of good games. (There were certainly plenty.)

I’m expecting two to three PS3 games to make the list in 2008.
