Nothing Says Happy Father’s Day Like Nintendo

Stuck on what to get Dear Old Dad for Father’s Day? Get that tacky tie and those golf balls out of your mind and head out to grab something special from Nintendo. Here are some ideas that will get you into Dad’s good graces.

  • Dad’s love to think they’re smarter than you. People’s brains start to atrophy as they get older so get Dad a Nintendo DS and Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day. It’ll keep him sharp although it may be harder to put one over on him.
  • Dad’s love to hog to remote. Get him his own Wiimote. He may even get up out of his chair to take on the rest of the family.
  • Dad’s love to reminisce about the good old days. Wii’s Virtual Console has more than 100 classic games, most of which came out when big hair and parachute pants were totally radical. These classics start at 500wp ($5) and make a cheap and easy last minute gift. Just don’t be surprised if Dad insists on showing you how the big boys play retro games.
  • Dad’s love a good competition. If you’re in the area, Nintendo World in New York will be sponsoring the Big Brain Academy(TM): Wii Degree Father’s Day Challenge. Dads and kids can team up for a bracket-style playoff to test their skills at thinking, memorization, computation, analysis and identification while competing for the title of “Biggest Brain.” There’s some bragging rights for you.
  • Dad’s love a great deal. So if you happen to be in New York, take your Dad to Nintendo World where he can score 10% off on all software

Now throw away those goofy socks and get Dad something fun. I just hope my kids are reading this.
