george harrison Nintendos George Harrison to RetireThe rumors that three key Nintendo of America execs are on their way out appear to be true. Hard on the heels of yesterday’s discovery of two job postings for positions that seem to belong to Perrin Kaplan and Beth Llewelyn, the third of trio appears to be on his way out as well. George Harrison, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Communications, has announced his “early retirement” in an internal voice message.

It’s not clear at this time whether Harrison is retiring from Nintendo to move on or leaving the game industry altogether. He has promised to stay on and smooth the transition of the sales and marketing team to Redwood and New York. After the dust has settled, he’ll be moving on. The timeframe isn’t clear, but it could be as soon as the holidays.

George Harrison has been with Nintendo since just after the launch of SNES and has played a critical part in the business development of every succeeding console.

Nintendo of America has yet to confirm the departure of any of the three execs.
