Nintendo Wii Homebrew Software Demonstration

Over the weekend at Chaos Communication Congress, a group of hackers demonstrated a hack for the Wii which allowed them to run their own software entirely native on the system. This may sound simple, but it could really be an important piece of news for the Nintendo Wii. Of course, Nintendo will probably not endorse these kinds of actions, but it’s great for gamers.
Homebrew is an extremely important element to gaming that is often ignored by companies and outsiders. After watching the above video, it’s easy to come to the conclusion that we will be seeing a whole library of homebrew pop up on the net over the next couple of years for the Nintendo Wii. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m excited about the Wii for the first time in a while. Homebrew is really what keeps systems going and extends their lifespan. Although Nintendo may not back this up at all, it will benefit everyone involved.

Very cool stuff.
This guys gotta work on his communication skills, he stutters every sentence
Thats great, but will this mean hombrew like podzilla and geting linux on a wii?
If its possible, I’d get one.
wow!great!
This is very very wondeful news, the nintendo wii is built for emulation for any console. We will have all the homebrew games running without no problem – this will be the only console which will offer 100 percent emualtion. People can create there own apps like the weather channel, which uses a internet connection. We can connect up 1 tera byte drives through usb to store our music, videos, emualted games, saved wii games, action replay, heaps of other apps. I hope they create dosbox too, oh its going to be very amazing. Imagine ps1,ps2,MAME,nego,atari 2600,amagia games & so much more bonus. I brought a nintendo wii on the 1st day in Australia & I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY – I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY CANT WAIT PEOPLE HOMEBREW YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
the wii cant emulate systems that it is not at least 10 times faster than.. so forget about seeing the ps2, xbox and the mighty dreamcast being emulated.
