GamesIndustry.biz gets the word from Nintendo about their move into San Fransisco and New York. Nintendo says that opening the new offices is essential for growth.
“To ensure we are poised to drive our business forward and remain an industry leader, we will be better positioned by expanding our US presence to the hotbed of technology in Silicon Valley and to the world-wide media centre in the heart of New York City.”

The company denies that the openings are creating internal strife and claims word of senior executives leaving are rumor only. It has been suggested that Perrin Kaplin, George Harrison and Beth Llewelyn may be leaving the company. This follows the exodus of 90% of the firm’s sales and marketing staff which some suggest was provoked by the move.
Nintendo of America’s headquarters will remain in Redmond, Washington, while sales and media divisions will be relocated to the new offices.
“We believe it is important to expand our presence into two key markets that have proven to be leaders in creativity, technology, media and business. With offices in Redmond, Silicon Valley and New York, Nintendo will be well positioned to grow and drive this industry,” explained the spokesperson.
