Nintendo Power’s Secret RPG Announcement

Earlier in the month, I reported that Nintendo Power was going to announce their super secret RPG in the next issue. Well … the next issue is here and it turns out that this was simply what I would call a marketing ruse.
Their super secret announcement is that Tales of Symphonia: Knights of Ratatosk is coming to the US and under a new name: Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. While this is good news, it certainly raises some questions in my mind concerning Nintendo Power’s marketing tactics. I was genuinely hoping that they were going to reveal some sort of secret project, not just an existing game being released under a new name. Nintendo Power certainly left me feeling let down.

Well.. first off it is a kinda big deal as its gonna be the only TRUE rpg on the Wii so far….

Sure, this is a big deal, but the way it was presented is borderline reprehensible. If my subscription hadn’t already run out, I may have canceled.
used_cisco: I do think it was presented in a very misleading fashion. We were all expecting something completely out of left field.. an actual secret project. This is not a secret project.
It is great news, but I just feel let down.

I know. I just think you’re being too nice about it. What they did was completely chicken Sh*t.
“Misleading” would be to tease some great exclusive story on the Tales of Symphonia sequel and then only reveal the name change. But what they did was tease the exclusive REVEAL of a NEW game. The game is not new at all. We all already knew about it. Lame.
I was really hoping for Mother 3, but I should have known better than to expect a Nintendo Power announcement to live up to its expectations.

Hey hey, why sound all upset? This game rocks! I have been waiting to know if this was going to come out here! I’m a major tales fan and Tales of Symphonia is my fav tales game so i’m really excited for this!!!
