Uh huh.

WiiWare is a great service for developers — there’s no platform holder getting in the way of any creative ideas they might have. Of course, then you have to worry about absolute garbage being shoveled onto the service, but you’d hope that the real gems will still make it to the forefront. But no matter how that aspect of the service works itself out, there remains a looming problem that most anyone can see: storage.

There’s a clear lack of options when it comes to storing your Virtual Console and WiiWare games, as well as the various channels. You basically have to cherry pick which content will stay and which will be deleted to make room for new purchases, which isn’t much of a problem on the 360 or PS3, where the smallest hard drive you can buy is 20GB. But with no hard drive support and an inability to play games off of SD cards, there really aren’t many ways to avoid this problem.

But it’s only a problem you have as a hardcore gamer, apparently, as Nintendo of Europe managing director of marketing Laurent Fischer recently said that only “geeks and otaku” are the ones who want this issue addressed. If I didn’t have a disdain for the “O RLY” owl, you’d be seeing it right here.

Sooner or later, casual Jim or Jane with a Wii is going to run out of space to download games and content, but apparently they won’t want a solution to that problem. Or at least that’s what Nintendo is saying for the time being. It’s clear, though, that this is a problem that needs to be addressed — and not just because the geek crowd wants it.

WHAT!? Just store your games on a memory card and reload any game you want to play when you have the urge to! What’s so hard about that?!

Lol I don’t even own a wii and this guy pisses me off. If you have a problem I’ll just label you with an idiotic term so I don’t have to adress the issue.. nice

Um have you tried moving data between the Wii’s internal memory and an SD card? The system bus speed on the Wii sucks my ass……it takes 5 minutes to copy a 40 KB file. I’m glad you have all this time on your hands but those of us on the planet that actually have lives outside of video games usually don’t.

    Go Marlins!!!!
