Nintendo No Longer Stocking Wavebirds in Stores

You can still plug those dusty Gamecube controllers into Nintendo’s Wii, but it looks like using them wirelessly just got a lot harder. Apparently, a reader over at GoNintendo called up Nintendo trying to find out where he could find a new Wavebird. The response he got wasn’t what he was hoping for:
I haven’t heard of any plans to offer the WaveBird Wireless Controllers in stores again (I did some checking, and we are still shipping the original Nintendo GameCube Controllers to stores). If you’re unable to find the original Nintendo GameCube Controller locally, you can still order this item from us. – Nintendo customer service rep
Of course, this is only really terrible news for people who absolutely need a wireless controller to play Smash Bros. Brawl or something. Well, them and the people who are now jacking up the prices of Wavebirds on eBay.

I don’t quite understand; Nintendo are making oodles of money. Why then have they stopped producing the Wavebird and carried on with the stock controller? Ahwell, I have my plain black wire GC controller I bought for my Wii. Works fine.
I agree 100 % with Joelteon7 why get rid of the wavebird.. they are selling more than regular gamecube controllers
