Nintendo Loses Nearly 90% of its North American Marketing Staff

With the recent news about Nintendo of America’s Sales and Marketing Staff moving from Washington to either San Francisco or New York, one wonders what happens to the staff in such a move. Unfortunately for Nintendo, a large portion of their staff has decided not to move. According to GameInformer, approximately 90% of their staff has chosen not to move, but instead to take a severance and leave the company.
Among those leaving are three key executives; Senior Director of Public Relations Beth Llewelyn; Vice President, Marking and Corporate Affairs Perrin Kaplan; and Senior Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Communications George Harrison. No one knows when the severance takes effect, but the speculation is that they will remain at least until E3 is over.
This means that Nintendo of America’s major marketing executives have been decimated, leaving only Chairman and CEO Tatsumi Kimishima and President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. Nintendo has yet to comment on this news, but it has to sting a little.

And we thought SOny was bad, damn! That has gotta hurt.
I would love to work for a company like Nintendo that has two crazy great products like the Wii and DS. Nintindo needs a marketing staff that can get to the gold at the end of this rainbow, not a bunch of hairsprayed stiffs that put their roots down and grew leaves.
I live in SF and i’m happy to hear Nintendo jobs are moving here. I’d like to thank those folks in Washington that left their jobs.
Thanks again!
