Nintendo DS Lite

Nintendo has responded to Pacific Crest Securities analyst Evan Wilson reports that it has completed work on a new version of its DS Lite handheld, stating that it is “rumour and speculation and we are not commenting further.”Yesterday, another gaming site reported him as saying that the new Nintendo DS Lite model was “thinner, has on-board storage, and larger screens,” and that it would lose the GBA port to accommodate these new model changes. He also made the comment that the new version of the handheld would not be available any time soon, as Nintendo would wait until “sales begin to tail off in all three major geographies.”

We are all aware that Nintendo has a history of updating their handheld gaming units to accommodate growing trends in the market, and in the past they have denied any new versions that they may be working on – and then pulled a “voila!” on the gaming public. Although I can see them unveiling a newer, sleeker model eventually, it will most likely be so far into the future, that we will forget all about this rumor by the time it becomes a reality.
