With the passing of their MMO based on the Marvel universe, it looks like Cryptic Studios is already picking up the pieces and moving on with another superhero MMO. Their upcoming Champions Online will allow players to take on the role of a superhero along with others in a sprawling online environment. How this game will differ from the already-popular City of Heroes has yet to be seen. The graphics do look like a step up though.

The latest Game Informer has an article talking about Champions Online. It’s supposed to be a fast-paced MMO. What they’re trying to do with this game is take away the whole “waiting” feeling you get when playing most MMOs. Every attack will happen instantly.
Also, they say the character customization in this game will rival City of Heroes’. Not only the costumes, but the way the heroes move and perform their moves. And it’s coming out for the 360 & PC I believe.
I’d like to see an MMO rival WoW’s open world. I like the fact that you aren’t limited to a confined space in that game, I’d like another mmo to capture that feature.
I would be quite interested if it does come out for the 360, will the PC players be able to play with them as well. I wouldn’t see a reason not to, not like an FPS. Wonder if its going to be one of those free games that you pay for some benys or subscription based.
I hate subscription fee’s, why pay for a game you already bought. In a few months you will have paid for the game twice.

I think this looks like a really cool MMO game! I’m curious to see the billing structure myself. I agree with DeathDream about the silly subscription fee’s. I currently play EverQuest and the fee’s start to add up after a few months. Don’t get me wrong I won’t be closing my EverQuest account anytime soon but it does get expensive after awhile.
