New Trailer for Final Fantasy IV DS

Here’s a new trailer coming from the Tokyo Game Show for the upcoming Final Fantasy IV for the DS. The game is basically a remake, but when the word “Final Fantasy” are involved, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Unfortunately, that release date at the end of the video applies only to Japan at this time. Hopefully though, Square-Enix will work out plans to bring the game stateside for people to get their on-the-go FF fix.

Does this mean there will be voice acting for the ds version? or is it just the trailer? voice acting would be an interesting add because final fantasy X was the first voice acted FF, and FFIVDS might be the first voice acted portable ds game.
dude, you are an idiot.. 3d simply means 3 dimensions (as in not flat)… this game is as 3d as it gets.
Yeah guys, way to point out the obvious, of course it’s 3D. I think he realized that. His point was that it looks like CRAP. Which it does. It looks like a slightly improved Super Mario 64 (with FMVs, of course).
Some are comparing to the PSP and others are arguing whether is 3D or not… the latter should basically explain how bad DS fanboys have it. Drooling over something like this is quite amusing. I say put down your DS, stop trying to belong to something and play the PSP.

The reactions here prove all the more that you all don’t care about games anymore, but about attacking each others system and bashing a game that clearly shows that effort went into it. The DS is capable of 3D, very much so, Zelda PH, FF IV, FF CC RoF all prove that the DS can certainly handle it. It’s no PSP, butb ecause it isn’t doesn’t mean all 3D handheld games should go to PSP. Don’t DS owners deserve 3D on their handheld as well, even if it’s less than PSP? It should all go to PSP or consoles because it looks better then? Congrats for acting selfish, graphic whores. Makes you wonder why SE bothered with updating FF I and II in high res 2D on the PSP instead of super-mega-DS-ass-kicking-3D graphics. =D
Grow up a bit, then come back and thank SE for even remakig the game in 3D, with voice acting and 3/4 of the original script we’ve never seen before. I care about the game, not the system, and if you guys are gamers, you’d do the same. But of course you aren’t gamers. All that cares is talking crap and bash other people’s system, games and opinion. Ha, caring about the fun games can bring regardless of their system, what a stupid idea… Okay, let the crap continue. Come on, bash me for liking 3D FF’s on the DS (which looks on par with FF IX and VIII and that’s good for a handheld coming from Nintendo).
Don’t say the games deserve better either. They do, but DS owners deserve good graphics as well, not just high-res 2D while the system can handle more. It’s one way or the other. Console owners get things like FF XIII, The Last Remnant and the Crystal Bearers. PSP owners have Dissidia and Crisis Core, DS owners have IV and III and others. And rightly so. Each gets a bit, with good graphics, there’s no reason to complain.
But of course there is! We don’t care about games! We care about bashing other system’s weaknesses and strengths!
You know, if the PSP didn’t exist, you wouldn’t all be taking about how the DS looks like crap. Or no, of course you would, for you only care about bashing the game and whine how it didn’t come to your system with better graphics.

How could you complain about the quality of 3D graphics on the DS? It’s freaking handheld for god’s sake! And I think it looks pretty cool anyway.
But that’s all beside the point. I’m playing this game for the sheer love of a good story and FFIV in particular. For me, taking it to 3D is enough of an upgrade; whatever pleasant graphical surprises it takes along for the ride merely adds residual value in my opinion.
I’m definitely looking forward to this game, sure it looks like N64 graphics, but really… if graphics can make or break the game for you… then you shouldn’t be playing.
With one exception, Final Fantasy 7, because they just did some really weird stuff with their paths, I can’t play that game anymore because it just doesn’t work.
In my opinion, final fantasy 2/4 is one of the best rpg’s to ever be made. when this game came out the graphics were unbelievebly basic and it still is considered the cornerstone of any rpg library… now they are going to even update the storyline too… i cant wait! some people are going to say why remake this rpg, or its going to be a waste the fighting style sucks… but let me tell you im 20 yrs old.. this was the first rpg i ever played… and it is still my fav ever… ive played it 100 times and i cant wait to give it one more go… This game will be 1000 times better then alot of the crap they create now of days and throw a 60 dollar sticker on to it…. I just cant wait to play this game, watching cecil look at himself gives me chills…
OOh and also… if you call yourself a final fantasy fan… and i hear you one more time say next they better remake final fantasy 7… i will hunt you down!! just shut ur friken mouth.. final fantasy 7 does not need to be remade.. it wasnt even THAT great of a game… final fantasy 4 and 6 in my opinion are WAYYY better and the graphics in those games actually NEED to be remade…. the only reason final fantasy 7 is so popular and considered so many peoples fav rpg is because thats when everyone started playing the ff series… ive been telling people forever, if they remade ff 4 ,6 and chrono trigger and made them look like the games of today… they would be the top 3 games ever…. and the other games wouldnt even be close… it funny those 3 games are still top 3 all time n e way lol

I look foward to this DS remake of Final Fantasy IV but when i get a copy what will i do with my GBA copy?.
And Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger deserve to remade in 3D too, who cares what some of you think about the DS it still deserves the good graphics and upgrades i think that some of you PSP players are jealous because we get FF III and IV in 3D and you get I & II in another 2D graphic upgrade.
At least we get better games than PSP players and the DS remake for FFIV is gonna rock when i got the DS version of FFIII i loved it and i still think that it was a success so maybe you PSP gamers should stop critisizing the DS.
Anyway SE really should remake Chrono Trigger in 3D for the DS it was the best game ever made and always will be.

The way the graphics look with the super deformed characters seems to take away from the overall seriousness of the story. I mean, how can I look at that and still be engrossed? I’ll be too busy stifling a chuckle every time I see the muppets move.
This is my fave ff game. It has a great storyline and it flows so fluetly. I will be buying this game when it comes out (anyone know if it’s coming out in the UK?). I have been playing FF for the best part of about 5 years now and got 4 for the GBA in summer. I was addicted.
Anyway I think 7 has enough things. I love the game though.Dirge of cerebus and Advent Children are examples of that.
The other ones deserve a chance.
How can people complain about the graphics? It looks better than the original FFIV and no worse than FFVII. We all took Final Fantasy VII seriously, didn’t we?
Super deformed models look silly in 3D. The whole point of super deformed characters in the older 2D games is so you could see their faces and facial expressions. It seems they didn’t know where to take the art direction in FFVII since it was their first FF in 3D. There were a lot of different models. Overworld models which were super deformed, battle models that weren’t, and FMV models that looked like human proportioned models. Much like FFIV except for battle models I think.
When FFVIII came around, I wasn’t sad that the duper deformed look was gone for one bit. Then FFIX came around and that’s a story for another time.
I am so anixous for this game. No matter if the graphics look blocky or whatever else people say, I want up. btw, Yup, Amen. You said it all and more.
I think its funny how everyone on here is getting all pissy about a game. I love ff4 and will always love it. I have to say that I love the enthusiasm of most of the peeps on here. Lets agree that ff4 is amazing and the remake will be amazing because THE STORY KICKS A$$; any graphic upgrade is worth it IMO.
BTW, SE is looking to make money and they know that their fans will love an ff4 remake (since it sold on the GBA duh!) the sooner we recognize that they are just looking to make money we can thank them for putting an effort of not just transposing it.
It is so good to here people speak of ff4/2 is such respect. I beleive that this final fantasy like the roots of all the good ones that came. It has such classical themes that make it so othentic. I love how the used the old music from the original in the trailer, however, I worried about the english voice actors (if they release in North America) in a lot of cases english actors dont bring all the emotion like the original japanese voices would , but having voice actors anyway is pretty incredible. I hope the have Excaliber as the strongest sword liek in the original. And maybe even take somethings out so it’s more like the original…. or not then it wouldnt have it’s own idenity seperated from the others.
