New Team Fortress 2 Gameplay Video

This new video for Team Fortress 2 shows off the “Dustbowl” level as well as a few of the different classes in action. Specifically, the video shows off the Soldier, Medic, Spy, and Engineer classes. After a couple of character-specific videos, it’s nice to see what this game looks like in action. It definitely looks like this game could make for some intense multiplayer matches. It also seems the developers have even managed to somewhat integrate the character’s personalities into the gameplay, which is a nice touch.

Looks awesome – how much longer do we have to wait?
“It also seems the developers have even managed to somewhat integrate the character’s personalities into the gameplay, which is a nice touch.”
Not really. Giving the characters victory taunts is hardly new (Star Trek Elite Force and UT2003/4 had them among others) and it doesn’t really affect gameplay at all unless players stand around and gawk during them instead of playing.
Team Fortress 2 is simply the same old TFC gameplay with a cartoonish look and feel.
@Phil: And that’s exactly what I want. I want my old TFC game with updated graphics and I want to be able to play it on my shiny new PC, PS3, or Xbox 360. What is wrong with wanting to play with an old formula that has worked for years? Am I wrong for wanting to play games like Sam & Max then since it’s the same old point-n-click type game?
Not everything has to be shiny and new to be a success. There are plenty of new IPs with new gameplay mechanics coming out this year. If they become popular, do they have to re-invent themselves as well in order to become more successful?
In other words… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
agreed. the one game i’ve probably logged the most hours playing total in my entire life has been Counter-Strike (i mean if you lump the various versions into one), and i first played that game almost 7 years ago. except for a handful of weapons and the Source conversion, almost nothing has changed with the gameplay, which is good. even if they never updated anything from the 1.5 version, i’d probably still be playing it a lot, because its simply that much fun, and has been for years.

They do if they expect me to buy the sequels. Why pay $50 or so for the same old game with just a new coat of paint? I won’t. If a sequel doesn’t add something(s) substantial to the original game aside from prettier graphics, then I see no reason to waste additional money on it.
Here, Team Fortress 2 adds no single-player campaign or even just bot play to the original. It doesn’t even add any new gameplay modes or classes to the game. All it is is just the same old multiplayer-only game with cartoonish graphics. While I can conceivably see TFC lemmings in the PC crowd still playing this game six months after release since like-minded idiots of the Counterstrike crowd bought into Counterstrike Source despite it being the same game as its predecessor, there is no such Team Fortress following amongst console players. So like Counterstrike for the XBOX, I think Team Fortress 2 will die a quiet death shortly after release with the console crowd. There’s just not enough in TF2 to draw them in and keep them hooked for long.
“In other words… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
Better words would be, if it ain’t broke, don’t buy a new one.
ok, we get it, you don’t like how the game looks; or, well, anything about it really. don’t take it personal; just play something else and we’ll all judge for ourselves when the game comes out. now, if you’ll excuse me, i’m off to play counterstrike on the PC. my only problem may be choosing a server to play on from the hundreds available; and that’s just my area…
Poor Phil Mig.
I feel sorry for you. I can understand not liking a game, but always attacking other comments and the people that have authored them is what has me pitying you the most. Oh and excuse my grammar if I’ve made some mistakes, but english is my second of three (3) fluent languages. And the pre-teens, teens and adults that post on this site should be able to do so without worrying about someone they’ve never met trying to bully them. I see only one truly immature poster in this thread, and I think you already know who you are. And no, it isn’t me.
