New Saints Row 2 Trailer is Actually… Funny?

Anyone who played the first Saints Row knows that damn near everything was attempted to be ripped from Grand Theft Auto, including its sense of humor. While it succeeded in many ways and made a lot of improvements to the series of GTA III games (that includes Vice City and San Andreas, plus the Stories games), its attempt at being funny was absolutely cringeworthy. Truly painful stuff.
So, imagine my surprise when I watched the new Saints Row 2 “Vehicles & Weapons” trailer this morning and I actually cracked a smile. Sure, it’s not the most original material, but they use it fairly well and manage to introduce you to a number of the game’s weapons (shock paddles? really?) and vehicles, including a helicopter, jet ski, and plane. Nothing groundbreaking (San Andreas had both planes and helicopters), but the original Saints Row was essentially an iterative step forward for sandbox games, and that’s exactly what I’m expecting from Saints Row 2.

I know games are supposed to be unrealistic… but how the hell do the shock paddles work when they’re not attached to anything?
I really don’t care cause I’m pretty sure I’ll love zapping people when I’m walking down the street.

The use of the word iterative in this sentence makes my head hurt. ouch
It’s pretty nice. Although the graphics are nowhere near GTAIV’s standards this is by far the best GTA clone
Saints row owns grand theft auto, the end. Does GTA let you customize your character? No. Does GTA let you get in gang wars with 3 different gangs? no. Ownd. The end
Toxicity: Obviously, your mind has changed to what they want it to be, GTA will ALWAYS be on the top, Saints Row only added these gimmick features because San Andreas didn’t. San Andreas is a 4 year old game and it’s better then Saint’s Row.
The first thing im going to do when I get this game with the customization is mak the joker;Heath Ledger style. And when I hold a cop hostage i’ll say, “I just want my phone call”.
