New Publisher for Nintendo Power Magazine

Nintendo has teamed up with Future US, Inc., the leading publisher of cutting-edge special interest magazines and
Web sites, to offer Nintendo Power Magazine on a much wider scale. Futrure US will also take over production of the web site.

“By teaming with Future US, Nintendo is ensuring the continued growth of the magazine’s circulation and bringing even greater value to Nintendo enthusiasts,” says George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. “The team at Future will carry on the quality and traditions of Nintendo Power, and the magazine will now be available at more newsstand locations than ever before.”

The December 2007 edition (volume 222) of Nintendo Power will be the first full Future US-published issue and will be up for sale in October. The magazine will continue to ship to subscribers monthly, with an additional holiday bonus issue each year.

It will be interesting to see what kind of changes Nintendo Power goes through as Future US puts its spin on things. The magazine has been a good source of tips, tricks, reviews, maps and strategies each month for almost 20 years now, and I’d hate to see it succumb to some the problems other similar publications have suffered in the name of mass appeal and profit.
