While Sony has yet to confirm anything, an apparent mistake on the part of the UK PlayStation website has given us a features list and release date – tomorrow – for the 2.10 PS3 firmware update. The page was spotted by a member on NeoGAF, but has been since taken down.

The new features are highlighted by DivX and Blu-ray 1.1 support, the former of which owners have been clamoring for quite a while to get. There will be some restrictions on DivX playback, including the inability to play content that is copyright protected, was encoded by DivX 3.11, or is larger than 2GB.

Another brand new feature is the Voice Changer; anyone who played Halo 2 will no doubt cringe when they think of the times you had to hear that horrendously annoying voice. (Although it did lead to some really funny Microsoft Sam impressions on my part.) The Voice Changer will have five preset levels to adjust high and low-pitched tones.

I was reading about the DivX the other day. I didn’t realise that while the 360 can now play DivX files it isn’t DivX certified like the PS3. That means that PS3 developers who use it will take up less disc space (not really a problem), load faster and use less system resources.

BTW is there such a thing as a copyrighted DivX file or is that there way of saying that they still see piracy as bad?
