Patapon definitely falls under the category of quirky games, whether it’s due to its art style or foundation, or both. The game doesn’t quite fit into any one genre, as it’s a hybrid music-platformer-God game-strategy type of deal. (Not too many games can fall under that particular umbrella.) Developed by the same team behind LocoRoco, this is another PSP game that sports an interesting art style with cute characters and music where you don’t quite have direct control over the action on-screen. At least, not in the traditional sense. You issue commands through a series of face button presses – which each cause a unique drum beat – that direct your patapons to move forward, backward, attack, etc.

Patapon releases on February 26.
