I'm a budget PC gamer, and I won't play in a server where I get more than 120 ping. Actually, most PC gamers wouldn't, and if you'd check any popular PC game server, a vast majority of people in them ping 50-100, as they tend to stick to servers in their general area. The very few that have dial up (which is really the only thing that wouldn't allow you to have under 150 ping) probably don't even play PC games online.

Trying to consolize the PC market is an awful decision. Having no dedicated servers will pretty much make and break most games on PC, unless you're talking something like Diablo. The bread and butter of most multiplayer games on PC is to have custom built servers run by different clans and admins, sporting different mods and custom maps. I'm sure that if GTA 4 doesn't ship with dedicated servers, programmers will be busting their asses off trying to figure out how to build them, similar to what they did with GTA: SA. Because the vast majority on the PC won't settle for consolized peer to peer connections. It doesn't take an elitist to figure it out, but an actual pc gamer in general.

Remember when steam first came out and everybody hated it? Sure GFWL probably won't achieve the success that Steam has, but it will at least be bearable and mediocre once they work out the kinks.

I think maybe you're confusing what a I said. I'm not talking about how laggy my game is, I'm talking about how lots of server browsers are confusing to look at and are very counter intuitive, the ability to just click quick play has been sorely absent from a lot of pc games until relatively recently. As far as dedicated servers are concerned, that was a move to make things easier as well, you no longer have to pay to use a server/ build one, and you don't need to know anything to host a game how you want, It should be up to companies to offer dedicated servers, Kaos does it, Epic does it, and it works out just fine. And yes Steam is a good platform, but Microsoft can offer things Valve currently isn't or can't. One hub for hd movie rental, and TV are some pretty nice things to have all at your fingertips in one app. And calling people monkeys isn't speaking to highly of you either...

Buddy, i agree. Though 200ms is still quite high. Might just be because i always play on EU servers which gives me 50ms.

Not everyone is as much an elitist as you, so I'd say 90% of people can safely ignore your post. </3

There is still a large number of people who can't be in the position to have an internet connection as pro as the one you describe (constantly under 140ms??) NOT just because they're dumb but because in their area it isn't available, or they can't afford it, and that doesn't mean they shouldn't still be able to play games.

Ya fag.

GFWL will die off very fast, dont worry. You can tell by microsoft constantly moving its limits and lines on things, such as it was once going to cost money, who the fuck would've payed for that? I think its good that Microsoft wants to expand their reach into PC gaming more, but they are going to be horridly unsuccessful due to the fact that they are taking a console approach to it. No dedicated servers? L M F A O. Right there is the "gimme" to how terrible the service is and how much Microsoft really doesn't understand how much different connecting people over PC's are from Consoles. 200 MS might be acceptable in a kiddie Halo match. But if you get near 140 in a CS game, you might as well just walk away. Steam has the market, myself being a huge steam fan there is no reason to switch off. Its perfect for anything and I see 0 to no flaws. When I take a look at GFWL... well a monkey you could see the obvious flaws. Yes its still young and they can improve... but why switch when the "marketplace" has already been perfected by others?

Easier to get into a game isn’t the big part of the picture... There are a number of games that already use GFWL and all fair (including GOW). There are few PC games that have poor server browsing and 9 times out of 10 it’s a person’s individual ISP that causes them problems with a server browser. Also not forgetting that GFWL sports a really poor and slow server browser for getting into any MP games ia as well a big drawback. The xbox Dash layout in a PC game also does not help anything as well when using GFWL as it is very clumsy to fiddle through without a 360 gamepad. The idea of not allowing dedicated servers over GFWL is also a game move as there is nothing worse than having to join someone in a game and suffering massive lag because the games are run on P2P. The list can go on and on as to why GFWL is bad for PC gaming and so far it seems most people agree as can be seen with the numbers of people playing all the GFWL supported titles out there... or am I the only one that doesn't see many people playing the games that are out with GFWL support? Granted there arent many GFWL MP supported titles but the ones that are out there were pretty high profile yet the numbers of people playing are subpar at best and some are practically dead.

So making it easier to hop into a game doesn't sound like a good idea? Whatever floats your boat man, but personally the experience I get from games is not platform specific and has nothing to do with getting to use a server browser that nine time out of ten is long over due for an update.

the service is for the most part irrelevant on PC... There will still be that small group of peole that dont care or just dont know the true experiance of a PC game and somehow a 1 or 2 click option does it for them to join a game.
