Here’s a new trailer for the upcoming RPG, AVENCAST: Rise of the Mage. The story for the game revolves around a young sorcerer training at an esteemed magic academy, when the school is suddenly overrun with monsters. From the looks of this video, you’ll have a wide array of spells and combat moves at your disposal as you try to uncover the source of these invaders. You’ll also be able to chain these different attacks together for more devastating results. Look for this game to hit the PC in October.

Of some of the 3rd person RPGs lately for PC (two worlds, titan quest etc), this one looks to be the prettiest. All the spells look so… particle-rific.

  2. Absalom says:

Looks like they are going for quality over quantity. That video doesn’t quite give me the impression of what style the game is going for (obviously Diablo & Dungeon Siege inspired). I certainly wasn’t getting any atmospheric vibes. The background music is more annoying than anything.

My personal opinion? Screw the fancy spell effects, give me some gauntlet-like gameplay. I want to go into a dungeon and have like 100 tiny monsters coming at me at once. Total carnage.

If games like these don’t make the tiny voice in your head scream “Run away!”, then it’s not doing its job.
