New Baja Trailers are All About “Sponsorship” and the “Open-World”

THQ has unveiled a couple new trailer for their upcoming racer, Baja. The game will have you racing over rough terrain out in the desert while trying to figure out shortcuts and alternate paths in the open-world racetracks. The video after the break shows off the “Open-World” aspect of the game (i.e. lots of cars just driving around). But the video above shows off probably the most interesting thing I’ve seen for this game: the sponsorship system. Basically, you need money to buy new cars and improve them; and to do that you need to win races and get corporate sponsorship. The catch to that though is that if your car takes a hit, and that Red Bull logo falls off, then you don’t get any extra money from them. Even if you come in third though, if that panel is still intact, you get some extra cash. It adds a unique element of strategy that could shape the way you race a bit.
