Negative Sales May Exclude PS3 from Multi-Platform Games

Things are looking bad for Sony, indeed. And if they get any worse, other game companies are not going to help it.
Folks over at Newsweek’s Level Up have interviewees that predict game companies are not going to be helping out the PS3 with exclusive content, or even throwing them a bone at all.
“Already third party executives are telling me that if PS3 sales stay below 100k for 3 consecutive months, PS3 SKUs may start disappearing from release lists,” Geoff Keighly said in the blog. “In turn [this wil create a wealth of de-facto exclusives for the Xbox 360.”
No exclusive content for the PS3 and exclusive content for rival consoles would mean Sony’s baby would join the ranks of failed over-priced systems. The only light outside of Sony’s very dark tunnel is that PS2 games will dry up soon enough, and there’s a chance these gamers will switch to the Playstation upgrade.
But at $599, Xbox is looking like a more appealing option…
Oky Doky…another silly post asserting that if the PS3 sales do not pick up in the slowest sales period of the year (dead of summer) the gaming industry will abandon it. This is such drivel it is hard to have to comment on it.
The facts have already been reported, analysts have concluded the PS3 will be the dominate console by the end of 2009 and it is rather a unanimous chorus coming from the analysts.
Xbox 360 has seen its sales steadily declining since the release of the Wii and the Playstation 3. The summer months will be slow for all however Xbox is the clear platform to suffer in the fall months and will be dead last going into 2008.
As for Halo 3 it will give the existing fans a big boost but if anyone was super motivated to buy as a result of an older franchise like Halo they are already doing it. Halo 3 will not be able to save MS againsts Sony’s salvo of amazing games, online community (Home), and FREE online gaming (socom is the gold standard and it just months away). I gotta say the grumblings are getting louder from xboxers who are beginning to realize they are getting riped off compared to Playstation 3 users – Free online gaming and constant free upgrades to their console. Since MS is all about the upgrade charges and charging for anything to do with software services (online gaming) they are going to be very surprised by the quiet but consistent defection of their users over the next 2 years and due to their corporate philosophy there is nothing they can do to stop it.
I feel sorry for xbox users and their wallets.
More rubbish that just isn’t helping. The PS3 has had so much bad press, and for no reason. I wouldn’t be suprised if microsoft has been employing people to write all this rubbish on the internet to put off the PS3!! Yeah the xbox and wii have advantages, but soon it will be realised that the PS3 has so much capability and power. And tbh.. halo 3 doesn’t look that great!

The analysts have “concluded” that the PS3 will dominate by 2009? Whoa, looks like the 360 better pack up its bags and leave! The analysts have spoken! The analysts have spoken! It’s truly pathetic when fanboys have nothing to hang on to but speculation and the future. The reason is because there is absolutely NOTHING going for the PS3. Don’t even compare Sony’s online service the Xbox Live. You get what you pay for, and the difference between Sony’s online service and Xbox live is day and night. After 6 months, the PS3 has nothing to talk about but its specs, because it doesn’t have any games to show for. Lair? What a joke. The gameplay footage is absolutely horrendous compared to the CGI trailer we saw last year. It looks like a regular xbox game! Sony always over promising and under delivering. Everyone knows it. Where have all the exclusives gone? GTA? Devil May Cry? Virtua Fighter? Assassin’s Creed? Have all the developers gone mad? No, they’ve woken up and smelled the coffee and realized what a big pile of junk of specs the PS3 is. The PS3 is like a massive body builder who can bench 700lbs but doesn’t know a thing about fighting and keeps getting beat up by smaller opponents. Then after the PS3 takes a humiliating beating it goes back to the gym and flexes its muscles.

Poor old PS3 – too expensive, overpromising and underdelivering – How easy has it been for Sony to lose its mojo and mana with this George Foreman size Griller! The “analysts” predicting success for the PS3 by 2009 are so out of touch with reality. The real winner has been MS and the 360. It now has a huge installed fanbase, the winner Live, huge number of quality games, everyone is developing for it, the games are excellent, the graphics excellent and the US sales brilliant…plus its priced right. The real winners right now are XBox 360 and Wii….Sony’s PS3 is a bit like an overpowered and underperforming white elephant but with a clown like Ken running it – that was only to be expected. It outsells HD-DVD by 3 to 1, making it the consumer choice in high definition playback, and one of the reasons Microsoft dropped plans to include a built-in HD-DVD drive on the 360 Elite.
Chris you are so full of shit. Have you ever even played a Xbox 360? They dont charge you to update your console and dont even try to say that Halo 3 is an old franchise that will not save MS. What about Final Fantacy, thats about 10 years older that Halo and thats one exclusive that saves sony in the past. (by the way it would just be stupid for Square to not release it for the 360 becasue they would be shuting out about 10 million sales at least)Also MS does not need saving, they already enjoy a good amount of game and console sales. They provide quality games and have done everything possible to refine the previous problems (I have never had a problem with my 360). I for one cannot speak for the PS3 because i have never owned one or played one but its a shame people like you are allowed to spread this BS about MS. Sony its self is a dishonorable company because of many things: paying people to advertise their PSP through graffeti, puting programs in music files that make systems at risk of viruses. Xbox live only charges you to PAY FOR PLAYING GAMES, downloading OPTIONAL EXTRAS, AND PRIME TIME MOVIES AND TV SHOWS. nothing else

Everybody keeps shooting their systems bullet points but most are neglecting the main article. The reason the 360 keeps getting to share in former exclusives is due to the fact that a company needs to sell a hell of a lot of games just to break even. If the months keep passing and 3rd party PS3 games are hardly breaking the 100k mark, mush less the 500k mark needed to see profit, Sony is in a world of hurt. As a loyal 360 and original Xbox owner (who has a Wii for my kids)this would piss me off! I want a tough fight for both sides to be going all out to wow me. That’s why the 360 ended up being so good, it was pure survival to stay in the fight. I don’t want MS to ever get as arrogant as Sony has been lately. And they very well could if the PS series self destructs. The bar won’t raise itself, so Sony better raise it if MS is going to step it up another notch! Peace2Fanboys!

Wow I can’t believe this article. I own a wii and a 360 and I was thinking about getting a ps3 this summer but this article disproves alot and I think i’ll just stick to my 360. I havn’t really noticed a difference in graphics and currently I have a 108oi hdtv. The 360 looked better than when my friend brought over a ps3 and that was pretty sad. Blu ray seems great but I can’t afford paying so much for the dvd’s all the time. Gamespot currently has about 7 games rated a 9.0 or higher for the 360 and only one for the ps3 and Oblivion shouldn’t count cuz i already have it for the 360. Another aspect that hasn’t been mentioned as much is the Media center edition. I have vista and hooked it up with my xbox, and it can just do wonders. It’s easy, simple, and much better than anything ps3’s marketplace has
in conclusion, I was gonna wait to see ps3 sales hit the point where it tied 360 and then buy a ps3. But that will never happen as the currently more people are buying 360’s even though the ps3 has come out. I feel sorry for the people who bought it the first day for $3000…. what a shame

Square and Konami 2 of the biggest 3rd part names in vidio games placed there biggest selling titles exclusively in the hands of the PS3, recently (as in they have seen the “loosing” sales figures) the company’s have re confirmed this exclusivity, so even tho PS3 is loosing so bad nether company jumped ship or even hinted at going multi format. Now admittedly both companys have large amounts of cash to throw around, but i seriously dought that they would throw out there money. if they honestly believed that PS3 would loose then they would have jumped ship, yet here both company’s still are confirming that they are staying.
