nDreams has dubbed July 5th “Redemption Day”. The company, founded by the former creative director of SCi/Eidos, Patrick O’Luanaigh, will reveal their newest venture, Venus Redemption. The casual gaming title, written by award-winning author Kate Pullinger (”The Piano”) is aimed at 30+ women. The episodic content will be directed by Jane Campion, one of the leading pioneers of interactive fiction.

nDreams claims Redemption will have the “powerful storylines, deep characters, emotion-based interactive conversations and exciting adventure gameplay” that women crave.

Patrick O’Luanaigh, CEO of nDreams said, “We can’t wait to present Venus Redemption to the world. After many months of development and exhaustive gameplay focus testing, we believe that it will prove a breath of fresh air for the casual game sector, and in particular for female casual gamers. With the technology behind Venus Redemption, we can now rapidly develop immersive and visually impressive story-based casual games that will run on almost any PC.”

With the demand for casual gaming titles on the rise, it’s no wonder nDreams is marketing to female gamers who are a burgeoning faction themselves. However, a good game should appeal to virtually anyone interested in solid storytelling and immersive game play regardless of sex. Hopefully Redemption will not have so much feminine focused content as to drive away a large sector of potential players.
