Myst Online Shutting Down Soon

It’s a sad fact of the gaming industry that if you try to do something a little different, 50% the time you’ll get burned; and that percentage spikes when it comes to the MMO biz. GameTap recently announced that it would be shutting down the servers for the MMO, Myst Online: Uru Live. Ricardo Sanchez, VP of Content and Creative Director for GameTap, broke the news, stating that it the decision was made for “business reasons” rather than any problem with the game itself. The game has been running for barely a year, but it hadn’t really garnered much financial success over that time. The game’s servers will continue to run for the next 60 days, but after that, it’s all over. And another MMO bites the dust.
