More MGS4 Bundles On the Way

In the days leading up to Metal Gear Solid 4’s release, the bundle featuring an 80GB PS3 along with the game was in ridiculously high demand. Websites offering pre-orders for the bundle were sold out within minutes (and in some cases, shut down entirely) and some stores held impromptu lotteries on launch day to decide who would be walking away with one of their very own. Luckily, Sony has noticed the demand and plans to ship more bundles out in early July.

“While we can’t provide specifics on inventory levels, the Metal Gear Solid 4 PlayStation 3 bundle is a limited-edition offering that’s experiencing high demand from Metal Gear and PlayStation enthusiasts,” the SCEA statement read. “We’re pleased with the strong consumer interest in the bundle and are working to ensure that additional shipments are provided to retailers.”

At this time, the 80GB bundle still seems to be one of the best deals for anyone interested in getting a PS3. Hopefully the people that missed out the first time will get a second chance at the bundle in the coming weeks.

    I saw plenty on the floor at Brand Smart. So many in fact that they had built a little fort right there on the floor out of the boxes. :lol:

    2) If you aren't lying you are therefore an idiot because the $499 rrp MGS4 pack is currently changing hands for over $700.

    AWESOME! I was finally going to get one and was waiting on this one, for it to be sold out at WalMart at 12:01 in the morning. I hate Wally World. :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: I almost blew the store up, but did not want JT showing up at my door with an angry mob with pitchforks and a barrel of tar and sacks of feathers.

    @ ManOfteal and Norbit it could have just been the boxes. I've seen it before where stores will put out the boxes with nothing in them just to show that they carry what ever the item is.

    Actually fucktard Brandsmart had a total of ten of those PS3 bundles on their sales floor as early as this past Sunday for $498.00.

    Most people forget about Brandsmart when it comes to video games, most people just go to Best Buy, GameStop, or Target.

    Does Sony really expect anyone to believe that they didn't foresee the demand for this bundle? The talk was all over forum sites for three months prior to the bundle actually being released. Folks were saying that they were actually planning to sell their 40Gb models in order to upgrade to the 80Gb device. Others (like me) intentionally put off purchases in anticipation of the new SKU.

    If Sony really didn't realize what the demand for this bundle would be and are just now "noticing", they need to fire their entire marketing department and hire some new folks who actually have a clue.
