Midas Magic Spells of Aurum Oblivion Mod

Bethesda Blog has an interview with the man behind the Midas Magic Spells of Aurum mod for Oblivion.
Apparently the creator of the mod Xilver who’s name is Brian Rivers., was inspired to create this new system of spells by his experience as a traditional magic user in Oblivion. Tired of all the loads of stuff one has to cart around to afford spells, River set above trying to create a spell that would convert stuff to gold. Although unsuccessful in his original pursuit, he managed to create a whole system of spells that put all that Oblivion “stuff” to good use.
Midas Magic has a unique alchemical process for learning the spells which requires gold and other various items from the game. This makes learning each spell a bit of a quest. I’ve put quite a bit of energy into the look of the spells as well as in balancing them with gameplay.

ok i just downloaded this mod expecting major coolness straight away but then…I HAVE TO FIND INGREDIENCE!!!!!!!????????!!! I mean i love the effort but god damn! finding ingredience? thats my least fav thing to do in oblivion! I mean hey! lets all download cliff racer mods aswell! we can battle them with REGULAR SPELLS because we can’t find the INGREDIENCE to get these wicked awsome spells, isn’t there a cheat to get those spells? coz i hate, repeat HATE collecting ingredience unless it’s in a big pile right in front of me, and yes i am a slacker and yes i don’t like work but seriously, collecting ingredience? man you must have the humor of those crappy newspaper jokes!

Hello, if you’r looking for some of the item’s you need like “Greater Sonic Essance” thats were you get at least 10 sigil stones and put thim into that little egg thingermubober >,> and in the book right by it (the little egg) you need to turn to the last page and look at the things for Sigil Stones I typed in on “Google.com” -codes for Sigil Stones- and I got a Web-Page and it says “Oblivion Sigil Stone – UESPWiki” I hope this has helped you! =)

yea these spells are cool but very LAME that u have to find ingredients its not that im lazy its the fact the i have to walk around all of map on the game just to find ingredients to make 1 spell and then do it all over again for anothe
The spells are awsome and what not, but i cant stand that you have to find ingredients. I play video games for fun, a non-learning, work free enviroment of just fun, and then the master of ill s*** makes us have to get ingredients. I think your just trying to be a di**. No effence, but you should at least make 2 different types of the addon….
how do you enven download mods on XBOX 360 i want to no so i can try it
ive downloaded the mod and i used the cheat to get them so i dont bother about the ingrediants. but, after about 10 minutes of playing the game crashes and i have to get out of it!!!! help please?

Hmm, This Mod Is Interesting but for the items you need, I’d subjest getting one and using the dube glitch, i can’t stand trying to find more than one of an item, spells are fun to work with but why is the balrog only “target” cast? i can’t summon it to my side and it attacks everything, including me. i can only summon it
on another npc.
Alright.
First of all, “need ideas”, even after someone corrected the spelling, how can you keep calling them “ingredience”? That’s not a typo, that’s just blatantly dumb. Second, the guy who made this put a lot of hard work into it. I mean, a real lot. If you don’t like it, make your own mod, or leave his alone. Who gives you the right to to say he’s being a dick just because he’s been using all his free time to bring you a great add-on that makes you work a little bit? Third: Everybody knows the console commands. If you don’t want to find the ingredients, cheat for them! If you don’t want to work for spells, then cheat for them. It’s not hard at all. And lastly, if you don’t know how to install a f*cking mod, you’re in the wrong place. There are hundreds of places that will tell you exactly what to do, not to mention that they all install the same way.
If you can’t install a mod, and you can’t understand how cool the mod is, and you can’t ever spell “ingredients” right, well, you shouldn’t be allowed to play Oblivion.
iv got it but theres 2 little annyoning things that i cant find out and they are
1) getting the cristal to open so i can go into the portal in astrul planes
2) getting the big curcle portal open

I cant find midas. Someone above said he is beside the lustratorium but I dont see him or a door that would lead to him.
first all you need to do is get the midas chest which is a silver urn a lockpick and gold nugget the go to the command bar and type coc testinghall. then go to the door that says alchemical warehouse or something like that then go and you can get almost every ingrediant in the game and put it in the chest so you dont become over-encumbred

1. they aare in astral plane both of them (its same tough)
2. use it ur char will act as a horse (press the shift or key u have bound for run not toggle just switch run and the carpet will fly)
3. yeah use the frostcrag spire glitch to get al sigil stones and simply separate it then medium merge and you get it all

Still playing Oblivion and this just made my evening. Great Add On! Had huge collection of Ingredients and was wondering what to do with all of them, besides sell them to the Chorrol Alchemist to make my character RICH.
All them bottles of Night Eye from Carrots and Vipergloss made my character rich enough in an hour to buy a Black Stallion. I found a crop of carrots south of Chorrol, another one north of the White Stallion Lodge. Of course I made a huge cache of Feather too with all those Lotus Flowers along Topol Bay and Flax Seed around Skingrad. And that was with NOVICE GEAR, before FrostCrag Tower came out.
I had so much stuff in my stash that when I found this version it was like,

My god people! finding ingredients isnt nearly as hard as you all make it out to be! sure it takes time and energy, but thats what makes this mod good. your always looking for that one ingredient, and along the way earning precious skills and levels. by the time you get all the spells you’ll probably be lvl 100 anyways jeesh!
Thanks for the comments, not so much for the foul gibberish but all the other ones. If you don’t like earning the spells, the mod has a built in cheat. But don’t complain about spell balance if you do cheat (that should go without saying) but ingredient requirements keep your character from getting spells too early in the game and unbalancing combat. 1. press the ` button
2 type in setstage Midaspsb 42
3 enjoy your n00b-ishly acquired spells
i did not use this cheat i was p***ed enough to go round and COLLECT THEM!

for that guy who asked how to install mod all you do is extract (or move) into
Local disk then program files THEN Bethesda softworks THEN!!! select oblivion/data finally extract or move whatever one you choose ( i always choose move to make sure i do it right

Ok I’ve seen a couple spells on youtube that i know are available (like angel wings)but i can’t find the recipes anywhere. Are there more books that i can’t find??

At first I was struggeling cuz I was like cba getting ingrediënts and stuff so I started exploring his shop (Midas Magic Shop). First the basement (allowed) then his Private Quarters(tresspassing), I found this Cupboard, and it wasn’t concidered stealing, interesting… so I opened it and in it were:
Angel Wings,
Costum Angel Wings,
Beard,
Tyreal Suit (Angel suit),
(and other things) ? so there you go, just sneak up into his private quarters and take it out of the Cupboard (Not stealing!)
Oh, and I just love this mod.
The character I have on my PC is an Archer and not a Mage so I can’t really cast every spell, but the ones I can cast… they are just lovely. And I bet the ones I’m gonna cast after I level up my Skills, will be even better.
(I only did 2 Quests… 1.Where Tiger? 2. A Warlock’s Luck… Where can I find more of them?[The Astral Plane one, can't get the Flawless gems anywhere. :/])
