Way to repeat what we already know, Gabe Newell.
I kid, I kid. I love Gabe. Great guy. I’m glad at least ONE video game company is dedicated to backwards compatibility with their PC games. Source engine still supports DX6 hardware for chissakes. Far Cry from the SM3 only Bioshock, which saddens and depresses me greatly.

its the same way like they brought up xp. at the startup, it was slugging and laggy. then they stopped selling and supporting older Os’s to make people buying xp, they are going to do the same on xp, trust me!

Yeah, this whole DX10 thing has been a total debacle from the get go. It’s not too late to fix it though. Lets hope they do.

Well i have a xp and i have NO intensions of going to vista. I mean, vista uses 1 gb of ram JUST to work while a pc using 256 mb of ram can run xp without any major
problems, i mean what’s the point of upgrading from 1 gb to 2 gb of ram if vista will just suck up half of it leaving you with xp level of performence when you could just use xp and take FULL use of you ram minus that 256 mb ram it needs to work? It makes no sence from a gamers point of view even with the directx 10!

Bah, MS will get the caching it needs and wont care about anything else.
Just like the Windows Millenium Edition (ME) – that sucked BIG time, but MS got enough cash from Windows 2000 and ME to bring XP to us…

And frankly, what is the MAJOR difference between MS’s operative systems? Nothing apart from visual and some MINOR performance in games changes… Tell me, is there REALLY something in Vista (im talking about the performance stuff atm) that couldnt be done for XP? Take DX10 – they are ALREADY planning to get it to back to XP. But they will have their revenge, oh yes… DX 10.1 or 10a or whatever they are gonna call it – its near. And they will make it require some new hardware or at least a costly service pack (yes i think that it is about time for MS to start charging cash for their OS patches… thats the only bloody way left for them to rid us of our green).

And then its nothing we cant do about it right? Wanna play fancy stuff? Pony up the green or go and play morally old games… for your 100th time…

microshit thinks theyre new SX is gona make me get a new shitty buggy OS ? windows XP is in its prime, i see no reason to change because like 2 games have some slightly preetier FX, wow, like im gona spend hard earned money on that.

Look at DX 9-10 comparisons in games, if you can avoid that slight edge DX10 provides do the smart thing a finger the MS cronies making these bullsh*t decisions.

I, personaly, am happy game designers have not all gone over to DX10, really pwns MS when i see the whole “DX 10 improvements not utilised” thing.

MS should have stuck with XP, when you got something that works, why change it ?

Service Pack 3 for DX10 support would be sweet for XP. Microsoft should have never thought that people would instantly go to vista because of DX10. Not a lot of people buy the new OS’s right away so now Game Designers have to build games both for DX9 and DX10 compatibility. Wasn’t like this with DX8 and DX9 because it was backwards compatible to begin with but because DX10 is such a drastic change… Well you now have game designers working harder to push into the next generation of graphics and performance.

What makes this situation worse is that Microsoft is working on DX10.1. This means that current DX10 cards won’t work with 10.1 and that screws M$ over even more.
