Microsoft Offers Replacements for Scratched Halo 3 Discs

Many people were upset yesterday and in the wee hours of this morning when they popped open their Limited Edition copies of Halo 3 to find the discs all scratched up. A design flaw in the plastic nub holding the discs made it easy for them to become loose during shipping and rattle around in the tin box. The scratches usually don’t make the game unplayable, but it is still an annoyance when you’re paying for a brand new product. Luckily, Microsoft has admitted that there is a problem and is offering to replace the scratched discs at no charge through their website. You just have to fill out a form, mail in your scratched discs, and in at least two weeks you should have a new copy. The offer is good until the end of the year. Not such a bad idea if you don’t mind being Halo-less for awhile.

I think MS must have the WORST quality control dept. ever. They just can’t catch a break.

Aw man, that’s lame! I’m waiting on my Limited Edition right now to be delivered. Hope it’s not scratched….
i hope that this doesn’t happen a lot, as much crap as i give people for loving halo so much, i don’t want their biggest launch to be ruined with an unplayable disc.
Microsoft *might* not be at fault here, but the people who manufactured the limited edition cases would be. I don’t think Microsoft would make those cases themselves, they would have another company do it. So the fact that Microsoft is going to replace the discs and not the case manufacture is nice of them
“Microsoft *might* not be at fault here, but the people who manufactured the limited edition cases would be.”
Wha? Whoever manufactured the limited edition cases is essentially a subcontractor for MS. That means, they are an agent of MS and therefore absolutely means MS is at fault. If MS hires a shitty manufacturer, they need to cover any losses incurred by that manufacturer.
mine was all scratched up but Im not about to wait 2 weeks to play it >_>
It is a bit stupid that they’re neglecting people playing the game for 2 week’s. They should have some sort of system where they can issue a new disc by courier, who then picks up the scratched one on arrival.
‘pay full price for a scratched game OR pay full price for a scratched game and wait two weeks for a new copy.’
IT’S GAY.
