The news of Warner Bros. dropping support of HD-DVD is still sending ripples out in the tech community. Somewhat surprising though are the recent comments from a Microsoft spokesman who stated the company may turn to Blu-Ray for their Xbox 360 system as well.
“It should be consumer choice; and if that’s the way they vote, that’s something we’ll have to consider,” Albert Penello, group marketing manager for Xbox hardware said when asked whether Microsoft would support a Blu-ray DVD accessory in the event that HD-DVD failed.
Penello also stated that he doesn’t expect Warner Bros.’ decision will affect console sales. However, he did also describe it as a “bummer” and a “setback.” Oh, the irony.

I don’t think there will be any developments here imminently, but by the end of the year — maybe at E3 — I’d expect some sort of announcement. Either way, I’ve got my PS3 so my Blu-raying is just fine.
