XBox Live Arcade ScreenshotAt tonight’s press event, Microsoft announced a number of new titles for the XBox Live Arcade. In a montage video presentation, they showed off a bevy of classics that are scheduled to make their way into XBLA in the near future, including such titles as:

  • Bomberman Live
  • Sensible World of Soccer
  • Wing Commander Arena
  • Undertow
  • War World

There was even something untitled in there that looked like a Mechwarrior title. Wouldn’t that be sweet? In addition, the original Sonic the Hedgehog and Golden Axe (both great classic Sega titles) are available for download tonight.

Joining them on the Arcade is a slew of new movies from Disney, the fruits of a new partnership between MS and Disney. They have also apparently inked a deal to bring future Disney titles to the online service as well.

Microsoft is really pulling out all the stops to build the XBox Live brand as much as possible. The larger a lead they can build on Sony’ PlayStation Network, the harder it’s going to be for Sony to catch up. That gap is only growing wider now, as Microsoft also announced that they will be rolling out HD videos on Arcade, and making them available in Europe and Canada. Partnered with that will be the launch of the XBox 360 Elite in the EU on August 24.
