Mexican Raids Net 15,000 Counterfeit Nintendo Products

Mexico is Nintendo’s largest Latin American market, but also a place where piracy is running out of control according to the company. Nintendo has worked hard with law enforcement around the globe this year to crack down on pirate operations.
Today, Nintendo teamed up with the Mexican government and seized over 15,000 counterfeit Nintendo products including approximately 4,500 Nintendo Wii games. The major center for these operations was in Guadalajara. Nintendo claims that international pirate operations have cost them over US$762 million. Honestly, those statistics are highly debatable. Either way, companies do have a right to protect their property, but I tend to think they are over-estimating the realistic loss in revenue.
Concerning raids, I am certain Nintendo is not done, so if you are pirating stuff, you may want to stop now before you get thrown in the slammer.

“Honestly, those statistics are highly debatable.”
I suspect Nintendo have slightly more intel on the subject than you so I’ll take their word for it.
