Metal Gear Solid May Come To Nintendo Wii

Metal Gear fans should rejoice, because MG Solid may be coming to the Nintendo Wii in the future. This is obviously speculation and theories at this point, but could be a realistic one in the near future. It’s obvious Konami is not happy with Sony right now, so some moves could be made in the near future. Personally, I think the Wii would be a great system for the Metal Gear franchise, so we’ll just have to sit back and see if anything happens.
Source:Â Reports suggest that Metal Gear Solid publishers Konami are unhappy with the current rate of sales of Sony’s PS3, leading to speculation that Metal Gear Solid could find it’s way onto Wii.A quote from Kazumi Kitaue, a man with possibly the best name I’ve heard all day and coincidentally the head of Konami’s operations in America and Europe, reinforced these rumours somewhat:
“I wonder if Sony can win back user support by the price cut of just $100. I don’t expect a substantial impact … With $500, you can buy a personal computer.
Since Metal Gear Solid was born for the PlayStation, we would like to keep it a PlayStation game. But we might have to take some steps.”

Hmmm.. the Wii? WTF? i doubt Hideo Kojima will get the full potential of their game on the WII. yes its a fun system, I enjoy my WII, but MGS is a legendary classic and people go mad for it and want the best game experience they can. Its MGS, no second best for that! I would hope it goes to the 360 and stays on the PS3 as well. It was always a playstation title, and will never be as good on the Wii.
It’s total speculation. They say they really want to stay on the PS3 but they may expand to other consoles if they don’t sell enough units on the PS3 to cover costs but as we can see the price cut is making a difference and I suspect there will be another cut before Christmas which is around the time MGS4 is slated for release. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see some kind of Metal Gear game on the Wii in the future but not MGS4.
I don’t think there will be another PS3 price cut before Christmas if the sales for the PS3 picks up. However, if they do, it would most likely be around $20-$50. In addition, if Konami does bring MGS to the Wii, it would be a port of one of the old ones or a MGS game that doesn’t fit into the main storyline.
It would be cool if it was on the Wii. It would be more immersive with the controller. I seriously don’t see how better graphics would make the game any better or immersive.
Having played 1 and 2, I can say that 1 is such a better game. Graphics? Yeah, 2 has better. But, from what I’ve just said, it does jack for me.
If it comes to the Wii, I’d be happy certainly. Let’s not forget that Metal Gear did originally start on the Nintendo, but of course, Solid was on PS.
It would make a very good game if it was on the wii. The controls would be very good. And Hideo Kojima does want to make a mgs game for the wii. He litteraly begged nintendo to put snake in ssbb, now komaji is even making the ssbb stages.
actually he either nows someone who helps make ssbb or has a friend that helps make ssbb,I forgot……,well watever and he asked if he could have snake in it
I just love this “Can the Wii support the Graphics” crap…. The “last generation” supported Metal Gear just fine, so why are so many people convinced the the Wii can’t handle the new one? So it’s not going to be HD, or Bue Ray, who cares unless you have a PS3 or 360. It would look just fine on the Wii. They’re not going to make a metal gear game that looks like total crap anyways. I’m sure they want to make a product that will sell, so why would they under develop a metal gear game on the wii. I will buy it if its on the Wii since i don’t have a 360 or ps3 yet. I do look forward to the control scheme for the Wii.
Ron, the problem is that too many people compare the Wii to the PS3 and Xbox 360. The Wii really should be in another class. It’s made for an entirely different kind of gamer really. It’s obvious they cannot compete with graphics, so that shouldn’t even be part of the debate. Interactivity and family fun are the areas the Wii has to work with.
I think Metal Gear or similar games would do just fine on the Wii.
To all of the people who say that MGS should stay on the Playstation because it has always been there, DO SOME FRICKIN’ RESEARCH!
MGS was born on the NES, and the first couple MGS games were Nintendo exclusives! So shove that in your grill!
Anyway, I can’t believe that anyone would question MGS coming to Wii because I think it is bound to happen. Fact is, Hideo Kojima is a crazy SOB. Seriously, watch or read a biography about him and how he likes to make his games. He likes things comical, goofy and no matter how hardcore MGS might be, he always puts some nice little easter eggs in there that showcase his odd sense of humor. I’d say Kojima would love to get a chance to make us do some crazy things with the Wiimote while playing MGS. It just makes sense to me that he should want to move things in that direction. Besides, even though I’m a big MGS fan, there’s no way myself (or many other fans) would ever buy a PS3 just for MGS. Heck, a 360 for Halo 3, sure, but a single-player MGS game on a system that has absolutely nothing else going for it…hm… I think most of us will pass.
Get MGS to the Wii! (Besides, Snake is already appearing in Super Smash Bros. Brawl!)
I agree with Josh D, those idiots need to remember that without Nintendo, Metal Gear would have died. And I knew the Wii was going to get an MGS before this news post. I could tell as soon as I saw Snake in SSB:B.
Technically, I think it was just Metal Gear on the NES. The “Solid” bit came on the Playstation. But regardless, it’s just pure speculation right now. But I do think it would work quite well on the Wii. It’s a bit more suspenseful if you can actually do the actions. Wii maybe made with the casual gamer in mind, but they haven’t dropped the titles made for more traditional gamers.
Again, pure speculation, but I’d love to see it happen.
Sorry, but Metal Gear DID NOT start on the NES, it started on a system called the MSX and was ported to the NES later. Furthermore Metal Gear was butchered in the porting process as the story and dialog were altered and the actual battle with the Metal Gear was removed. Additionally, Metal Gear 2 for the NES had nothing to with the actual Metal Gear storyline. Finally, Metal Gear Solid 4 may require processor intensive AI and complex physics and will have controls that would probably not translate well once shoehorned to fit the Wii. Nintendo fanboys, please do your homework
meh, even if they did make one for the wii it still wouldn’t convince me to buy one, once i played ps3 and 360 graphics there was no going back, no fancy ‘flail your arms around’ controller will make me buy that thing, maybe i’ll get one for my grama
Ha! Someone commented on this post using my name, and I just noticed. How nice. Now, to the topic….
Will MGS hit the Wii? I’d speculate and say no. I would not be surprised to see one of the early Metal Gear titles on Virtual Console, though.
We all know great graphics do not make a game; however, many people tend to equate the two. In addition, people expect certain things from ‘blockbuster’ titles, and MGS is certainly one of those.
MGS is a very popular series and will stay that way till the franchise dies out. It would only make sences to produce MGS4 on the WII.It would take some time thought to reconfigure the platform. Although Josh D,”there’s no way myself (or many other fans) would ever buy a PS3 just for MGS. Heck, a 360 for Halo 3,” there were games that sold systems. If you look at the original Splinter Cell game release sales of the PS2 sky rocketed. So I would’nt say that people would’nt buy a system for a game. So the release of MGS4 might push the sales of the PS3.
For the PS3, it has been shown that players will have a very wide array of camera angles to chose from – such as the normal third person, over the shoulder and full on FPS.
Now, if it is ported to the Wii, I see it being solely an FPS or an over the shoulder game, because the Wii controls wouldn’t be complex enough to control Snake otherwise. Now, because of this, the game would have to change – there would either have to be less enemies or Snake would have to be stronger. I could see them taking out some of the stealth parts of the game in order to facilitate the transition.
I may be an elitist arse, but I don’t think the Wii as a system is able to make a proper port of MGS, be it MGS 4 or other MGS games. And before anyone says that I’m bashing MGS on Nintendo systems, I’m not. I’m bashing MGS on the Wii, because while Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 have been a sort of birds eye GTA style – even SSBB being a simple fighting game at its very core, I believe that the MGS games that have been on the Playstation system to be more complex than their Nintendo counterparts.
hell ya that would be fuckin awesome just sort of make the controls like res4 just change the running to sneaking and stuff like that. It might not have the graphics but the wii and metal gear definetly have potential
…Nah MGS 4 Will not be out on the wii.. i belive..
but on the other hand theres good news for wii.. and mgs fans… i have heard rumors that there bringing out a mgs for wii about the story of merly.. you know the girl from the first on but everyone said she died and all that but she comes back in MGS4 And every ones like.. how the fuck does that work out..
so look out for MGS: MERLYS STORY.. i think xD
i think that they won’t release mgs4 or any sequel.
it would be nice if they coul release mgs 1,2 and 3
for wii. cuz many pple havent expirenc it, id buy it if you had the gc
controller for an option
a sony fan site said there will not be one but thats just a fanboy site
The original Metal Gear, designed by Hideo Kojima, debuted in 1987 for the MSX2 computer platform in Japan and Europe. A heavily modified port produced by a different team was shortly released for Nintendo’s Family Computer in Japan and its counterpart, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), in North America and Europe. Konami then decided to produce a sequel for the NES, titled Snake’s Revenge, which was also done without Kojima’s involvement and released in 1990 in North America and Europe. One of the designers who worked on Snake’s Revenge became acquainted with Hideo Kojima and asked him to do a “real Metal Gear sequel”. Kojima accepted his request and began development on his own sequel, titled Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, released in Japan for the MSX2 in 1990.
After Metal Gear 2, Kojima worked on other projects (notably Snatcher and Policenauts) before directing his third Metal Gear game, Metal Gear Solid, which was released for the PlayStation in 1998. The success of Metal Gear Solid inspired a series of sequels and prequels. Metal Gear Solid was followed by Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater for PlayStation 2, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops for PlayStation Portable, and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for PlayStation 3.
Expanded versions and remakes of the games were produced as well such as Integral, Substance and Subsistence. A few spinoffs were also produced, but set outside the series’ main storyline.
Look the only thing I am worried about is controle but I think it will work. Now the one thing no one seemed to notice was that there was a very good metal gear “SOLID” game on the game cube. Plus the good thing about the wii is that it is so different that the only way to put a mgs game on it would to really think it out work out all the kinks unlike what they did with a certain x-box title!
P.S. I would love to see them do a game about the snake with the anti metal gear thingy. I beleve it was call pylantropy!
+ would pause the game. Z would auto target. B would punch, grab, and throw to the ground. Z plus b would fire. A would crouch, crawl, and somersault. C would… uh? Show you the controlls? Now all that stuff means almost nothing if they are and put a controll option that would let you use the classic and gamecube controllers!

i had a question in metal gear solid 2 substance for ps2 is there more levels then the tanker mission and the plant mission. and mgs would be awosme for the wii. i have the wii and right now there are no good games for it and i am mad so any new games is good.
Wrong. MGS was not always made for playstation. If you would so kindly do your research, MGS was first introduced through the PC in Japan, then the NES in North America.
Metal gear was made first from the pc from japan..metal gear solid was first made for playstation..don’t be dumb now starkravinmad

It seems PS3 owners that keep bragging about graphical power might be trying to reassure themselves that they made the right choice about which console to buy. You may have lost the plot about what makes great games. Its not about how much graphical power you have, its about what developers do with the consoles capabilities.
To be honest i dont blame you for expecting alot from Sony because PS1 and PS2 had an amazing lineup of games. The games are what made those consoles shine. And only great games will make the PS3 shine. Not its graphics.
Look at all the MGSs after MGS. They all live off the glory of MGS and it was technically inferior by how much??…
If you havent gathered the point of what im trying to say, ill say it openly. An MGS can easily be made for the Wii. And yes it can be a masterpiece, and if taken seriously yes it can be just as good as MGS4.
*** missed abit.
technically inferior by how much??… but the direction (camera angles ect), the music, timing, the atmosphere they created , voice acting, dialogue, pace of key story points, suspense and many other elements which have nothing to do with graphics made MGS a Masterpiece.
People…. Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid are the same damn thing. It’s the same story line. It is all connected. The only difference is “SOLID” and that’s just a word.. doesn’t really have any significance considering that Solid Snake is still the main character. So, yes the series did start on a home computer called the MSX2. However, no one had one of these so if they hadn’t ported it to the NES then you probably wouldn’t be having this conversation because it would have never been released in North America.
Anyway, yeah I think MGS on the wii would be a great idea. Not necessarily MGS4 but an MGS game of some sort. Maybe another addition to the series. Because Konami has already said that they want to continue making MGS games even though Solid Snake is dead. They will most likely have Raiden as the main character, but that doesn’t really have much to do with this.
Um… about the graphics.. Fuck graphics. They don’t matter. At this point all i really care about is gameplay. I buy a game to play it not look at it.
What if they remade one of the old metal gear games?
remember that, the Wii has these controllers:
Wii remote (+nunchuck)
Gamecube controller
classic controller(this one has Z+L and Z+R, two more buttons than GC W/O + and -)
