Metal Gear Solid 1 Being Ported to PS2 for Essential Collection

A couple weeks ago, Konami announced that they would be releasing the first three Metal Gear Solid games as a single package on the PS2. At the time, they didn’t elaborate on the full details of “Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection,” but we’ve now learned a couple new things thanks to GameAlmighty.com. For one, the first MGS will be presented as a port, thankfully eliminating the need for any disc swapping or old memory cards. Unfortunately, it will still be the PS1 version, as opposed to the Twin Snakes remake that came out for the Gamecube. On the plus side though, the other two Metal Gear Solids will be in their expanded “Substance” and “Subsistence” versions, which adds almost two extra games’ worth of bonus material. If you haven’t experienced these games yet, this is a definite must-buy for any PS2 owner when it comes out.

I played MGS1 on the PS1 so many times, I love the ending cutscene with Grey fox dieing and he is giving his speech, and where he guts the radar off from Ray. Grey Fox FTW!
I never got to play Twin snakes and would of loved to because I have a ps2 not a gamecube.

If they're giving the Substance and Subsistence versions of the other two, why don't they chuck on the VR Mission extension package for MGS1? 300 missions should compensate for not having Twin Snakes.

So glad they're at least forcing people to buy a ps1 memory card if they didn't have one.
WAY TO STICK IT TO THE GAMERS!

nonexistant, other websites are pretty clear that you DO need a PS1 memory card to save your game in metal gear solid 1. They also say that its presented as two PS1 cds so you DO need to disk swap. this article writer needs to check their facts.
