mgo map1 Metal Gear Online Character Customization and More Detailed

Each and every week from hereon out, PlayStation.Blog will be posting a “Metal Gear Monday” feature that offers up news, announcements and details on both Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Online. This past week went into detail on the character creation element of MGO and the two maps, four gameplay modes and all the weapons you’ll find in the beta.

The character creation system is derived from MMOs; you’ll be able to customize and upgrade skills. You can select four of the skills to specialize in, so that you can cater your character to your style of play, some examples of which are Combat (CQC), knife fighting, quickness, alertness, heavy weaponry mastery, demolition, and sniper mastery.

MGO also has the Sons of the Patriots system, or SOP System for short, which allows you to visually communicate with your teammates to see things like their position, status, and if they’re fighting. While that’s nothing too exciting by itself, what’s cool is the ability to scan your enemy’s link and then share that with your teammates.

For a peak at the weapons available (read: there is a catapult for transportation purposes), head over to this week’s post on PlayStation.Blog.

    This is great to hear.

Right now the PS3 has nothing that catches my eye, but once this title comes out I might consider getting it.

If you’re in Europe its out tomorrow…

If you’re in America its out tomorrow…

Don’t get your hopes up too soon guys. You HAVE to register on Konami’s website to be able to play this. And, well – I’ve been trying since friday, but it can’t take the pressure.

If this is what the full game will be like, then I’ll NOT be buying it.
