PC: Core 2 Duo (2.6) | 2GB RAM | 512MB 8800 GT | XP Pro (32bit)

Just reinstalled Crysis and installed the new Patch v1.1 (139MB). Keeping all settings identical to my previous install, the FPS has remained the same ~35-40fps however the game is running noticably smoother. I have been able to run with 2x AA and still keep the same FPS and Smooth gameplay.

I noticed it now supports AA 16x, very crisp indeed!

1. Vista is not ready for prime time (just ask Dell or HP).
It is significantly slower than XP for most apps due to heavy
internal resource requirements. SP1 will include major
elements that are rebuilt from the ground up. Whether this
is "Tearing [it] Down" is a matter of opinion.

2. The Crysis patch should fix many problems. There are bad
memory leak issues on many systems. This is what causes much
of the stuttering or sudden FPS drops. Check your command\
console and see what the system is telling you.

3. I am running Crysis successfully on an Athlon X2 4400+
(old Socket 939), only slightly overclocked, with 2GB ram and
a single HD2850 with 256M (also slightly overclocked). I am
getting 30+ FPS (except for the occasional stutter) at 1600 x
1200 and it looks great. How? Set everything to medium
settings, but DISABLE AA and up the Post-Processing setting
to HIGH. AA kills your GPU and does little for the foliage,
while post-processing improves it greatly. Also, turn off
motion blur and slow down the water refresh rate from 0.05 to
a higher number - probably not more than 0.5. With these
changes I can also set water detail on High and lose only 1-2
FPS. You can change these in the command console with:

r_motionblur=0
r_WaterUpdateFactor 0.5

Read the Crysis Tweak Guide and the Tweak Guide for Nvidia or
ATI cards in general. It takes time and some trial and error
but you can achieve a real improvement . . . and learn a lot
about the hardware and software in the process.

Cheers!

Put Vista down and step away slowly……go back to XP, the DX 10.1 in Vista isn't woth the headache. Visually it's barely discernable, besides, they are in the process of tearing Vista down and rebuilding it like they did XP…but it won't be done for a while. Get XP and most of your problems will be solved, it's a lot easier on system resources to boot!

And were exactly did u here this about microsoft TEARING DOWN VISTA and re-building it like they did with XP ?

And on another note there is currently only support for DX10 or DX10.0.
10.1 WILL NOT be available for a while yet. If you have vista try getting your hands on service pack 1 beta build 6001 I have that running as a testing point and the differance it makes is drematic.

Wow!!!! It seems like most people want to make a dollar out of 15 cents. I've played Cysis with an ATI x1650 Pro 512 and it ran fine with 2 GB RAM and an AMD Black Edition CPU, granted it was on "low" settings, but I never experienced a single problem. Then I had one ATI 3870 and it auto set to medium settings with one card and a crappy MSI mother. Now I have twin 3870's in Xfire and it plays on max settings with MAXIMUM Pimpin! If you guys have lame rigs, don't whine about waiting for patches...save some nickels and go buy better equipment. If you are spending all your time looking for every little "line" or "anomally" in the game...then you need to go and get some sunshine and step away from the computer!

PC: Core 2 Duo (2.6) | 2GB RAM | 512MB 8800 GT | XP Pro (32bit)

I run Crysis with max graphics @ 1680x1050 (no AA) and getting ~35-45fps which looks fantastic on my 22" Widescreen. Enabling Anti-Alising to (8x) will drop to ~5-10fps, however comparing screenshots no AA to AA (8x) did not show too much improvement on the already stunning clarity of the game. The only gitch I ran into was a floating solder on 'Chapter: Phase Line Alpha'.

Loved the game and looking forward to Patch #1 to see how this may enhance the game even more!

 Please Help says:
December 30th, 2007 at 10:32 pm

i have a core 2 dou 2.4 , SLI 8500gt 256mb (2x), 2 gbs of ram ,a SLI support 680i mobo, and a 320gb hd. I can still only run Crysis at all low graphics. Shouldn't i be able to run it at least all at meduim?

in a single answer to u Please help... NO. The reason being playing crysis on 2x8500gt's ( come on there 8500 gt's) is not exactlly what I would call a gaming system by any means. Not trying to be mean here either.

But the fact of the matter is for decent gameplay in crysis you need atleast a single 8800gts 320MB, 2GB Ram under vista 32-bit and a nice cpu like E6750 or above. Granted that Crysis (Still pending Patch #1) doesnt fully recognise and or utilize quad-core cpu's or SLi Technology to the best of its capability, but none the less to achieve the type of gameplay u are after in crysis you may want to either try disabling sli for a bit and try that or wait for the new patch ) hopefully due this month or do a little upgrading.

Hope that helps .
Wasnt trying to be mean or sarcastic just stating facts my friend.

Happy New Year every1.

December 30th, 2007 at 10:32 pm

i have a core 2 dou 2.4 , SLI 8500gt 256mb (2x), 2 gbs of ram ,a SLI support 680i mobo, and a 320gb hd. I can still only run Crysis at all low graphics. Shouldn’t i be able to run it at least all at meduim?

in a single answer to u Please help… NO. The reason being playing crysis on 2×8500gt’s ( come on there 8500 gt’s) is not exactlly what I would call a gaming system by any means. Not trying to be mean here either.

But the fact of the matter is for decent gameplay in crysis you need atleast a single 8800gts 320MB, 2GB Ram under vista 32-bit and a nice cpu like E6750 or above. Granted that Crysis (Still pending Patch #1) doesnt fully recognise and or utilize quad-core cpu’s or SLi Technology to the best of its capability, but none the less to achieve the type of gameplay u are after in crysis you may want to either try disabling sli for a bit and try that or wait for the new patch ) hopefully due this month or do a little upgrading.

Hope that helps .
Wasnt trying to be mean or sarcastic just stating facts my friend.

Happy New Year every1.

This is so lame. I've been waiting for the SLI fix for a while now. I'm stuck with Low setting until January I guess.

Minimum requirements on a game box are a joke. Crysis is no exception. If you are at the recommended settings, then low settings in theory should be fine for you. Without listing your specs it's hard to say.

Almost all gaming laptops today offer native resolutions that outclass the gpus they are paired with. That's not to say that laptops are wimpy. They are just poorly configured with little options given.

If you have a laptop that you consider beefy, odds are it still doesn't have the pixel pushing power for 1920x1200 and perhaps 1680x1050. You're going to have to suck it up and run something around 1440x900 or 1280x800 or lower. Yes, that means not running native resolution.

Blame the laptop manufacturers for pushing those high res laptop displays. A gaming laptop is an oddity in itself.
