Back in November we got word that Mark Wahlberg would be starring in the new Max Payne film. Today, the word on the street is that the film should start shooting March 2nd in Toronto, and is scheduled to wrap up on May 9th. John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, The Omen, Flight of the Phoenix) is set to direct the story of a
New York cop whose wife and baby are killed by thugs high on a designer drug called Valkyr. Devastated, the cop joins the Drug Enforcement Agency and goes undercover with the mob to find the source of the drug. Framed for the murder of his partner and hunted down by both the mob and the police, he is forced to wage a one-man war against crime.
All this does is make me want to play Max Payne again. Sure Mark Wahlberg is pretty darn cute and being such a fine actor, I am sure he will do a bang up job. But since no one is really sure if the movie will follow the game’s plot line exactly or not, the quickest and easiest way to get my dose of MP goodness is to just play both games again and stay far away from the movie until I know for sure that they have not ruined one of my heroes.

Max Payne 2 still remains one of my favorite games to date… the graphics still look decent ~4 years later.
they sure do any news on max payne 3?
I remember this movie when it was called Payback with Mel Gibson. Seriously, that movie was a better Max Payne movie than this can hope to be, and I like the idea of a Max Payne movie.
I hope Wahlberg can perfect his “constipated and angry face” in time for the movie. Wouldn’t fit the Payne image without it.
i sure hope it isnt another matrix rip-off…as in
“hey guys what should we do now”
“Gee, i dont know, lets just do more bullet time”
Payback? Really? Really? I’m sure it’s better than most videogame movies, but I wouldn’t exactly put it on my list of “must-see’s”
you know who would be perfect for Max Payne?
Clive Owen.

Didn’t they originally model Max Payne after this guy? But I guess if they’re looking for blockbuster power, Mark Walhberg should do the studios nicely.
Bruce Willis would have been perfect for Max Payne. Bruce has the attitude, the look, and experience playing a role as a Cop from New York!
They were filming this movie outside my work yesterday, March 4, 2008, at 79 Wellington in Toronto. I had perfect seats for viewing the filming
Saw this filming over the weekend at 1 king West- from my condo on the Lakeshore…great view of the Apache Helicopters hovering and spotlighting the hotel/condo….very exciting to see it live – hopefully the movie delivers well.
Bruce Willis does look an awful lot like Payne 2.
Just add hair. He has the voice too
Max Payne without Mel is Suck.
